brakes

  FOR SALE!!!
hey i need some new brakes for my mk 2 ph 1 1.2 8v as my disk is f**ked so need to change for mot will 172/182 bracks and cailpers fit bec if they do will ring round the scrappys 2moz if not what are best disk and caipers to go for on cheap budget tho cheers guys

Nope 172 won't fit without making the brackets making up to fit one option is to chnage the hube then you've got to make the shocks fit not worth the hastle though when stock calipers are more than enough.

You've got the 239mm disks do find a 1.6 16V Mk2 phase 1 or most of the phase 2 Mk2 cars as they use the 259mm setup so bigger disks. Then take the calipers the caliper brackets and the bolts.

Stock disks and stock FDB 845 pads from Halford (£17) etc are more than enough. Even most track day work didn't do anyhting to my car.

I don't like any fancy looking disks there all rubish from my experiances.

The calipers are different I think thinking about it not hugly uprated like 4 pots etc they should better though. plus if you want to waste some mony they do harder racing spec ie DS2500'/3000/PF97 tye race pads for that caliper design as there the same calieprs as fitted to the Williams and Valvers so pads were designed for the racing cars. the calieprs you have now arn't used in racing on any car so no race pads exist.

so if i see a valver our williams in there i could get the cailpers of 1 of them as well ?

Yep but the calipers are 14 years old so could do with new seals hence why the newer calipers are better since thery have new seals. GSF I think do replacmetn calieprs with new seals for a good price if you want.

259mm disk weren't an option but most 1.2 8V have the smaller disks.
