Excellent spec.. Stupid question.. Are the Maxi piston HC?
Not a stupid question at all mate, but yes they are high compression. Here's what they look like:Excellent spec.. Stupid question.. Are the Maxi piston HC?
No mate not a pitlane one. Too expensive to buy knowing I'd have to cut it up! Lol!Pitlane motorsport airbox yeah Mark if it's a copy. Loads of nice bits on there.
Thanks mate!Like
Cheers mate. It'll be revving to 8k, maybe 8100. Max power isn't acheived until 7800 rpm! Lol! That shows how nasty the cams are.Looks very nice Mark, what revs will it be doing?
They're there to allow flexibility and for thermal expansion mate.
Yeah here's hoping so mate. I'll be running the constant vvt setup that the 197/200's run as well which should aid drivability. That will be fun.
Correct mate. It won't blow either as its a tight fit. A lot of performance car and motorbike exhaust systems are done this way.Does that mean it's not welded??
Thanks Keith. Yeah R3 maxi should make 230hp. Maxi Evo made 250hp, but they're on steel bottom end and solid lifter top end. They also Rev to 8500rpm!Looks brilliant Mark, might be racking your brains in near future over this engine  Should pass the 200bhp mark quite easily with that spec if the r3 evo is anything to go by
Lol! Yeah it'll be w**k when it helps to crack a sub 8:15 at the ring. :wink:It is a real shame Captain Mincer will be piloting this. I almost feel sorry for it. 😂
Thanks mate. :grinning:Great work and attention to detail, will go very well!
Thanks. It's definitely been a labour of love.Absolutely fantastic work Mark.
Looks a work of art.
Want to Build a Megane engine? Thanks. It's definitely been a labour of love.
Oi... less of that talk! - I need to finish mine first.Want to Build a Megane engine?
Yeah no problem mate.Want to Build a Megane engine?
Thanks mate. Yeah it's all been in the planning for quite some time now tbh.Woah.
brilliant mate, a true labour of love.
Can't wait to see what numbers it makes!
You have the top compression ring, 2nd compression ring and 2 oil control rings mate. That's the standard piston ring setup. It's only race engines that they start doing away with some of the rings, but they need rebuilds a lot more often.4 piston rings per cylinder?
Always thought competion engines had less rings, not more?
Or is there a special reason for it?
Thanks mate. If it doesn't make the numbers I'll re-engineer the pms manifold to accept a gt3076 and low comp it. LolThis looks amazing, like others can't wait to see the figures.
Lol!And i'll have it off ya lol
Ah ok so it is the oil ring that is doubled upYou have the top compression ring, 2nd compression ring and 2 oil control rings mate. That's the standard piston ring setup. It's only race engines that they start doing away with some of the rings, but they need rebuilds a lot more often.
Tbh mate I've not seen an engine without 2 oil control rings, so couldn't comment on if it's an f4r thing.Ah ok so it is the oil ring that is doubled up
Never seen that before.
Is it standard on all F4R engines?
Thanks Martin. It's for sale if you want it. Lol!That looks seriously seriously epic. Proper epic. Credit to you mate. Been waiting a while to see this built lol!!
Absolute car p**n! Seriously jealous of it and of your skills
Thanks. No mate not really. Bit of measuring and a bit of drilling and tapping. Easy really.Absolutely awesome! Is it a lot of work to get a 197 head to fit then 182 block?
Thanks Martin. It's for sale if you want it. Lol!
The engine mate. Everything's for sale at the right price!Your skills
Or the engine lol.
It's not seriously for sale is it? Am I having a massive blonde moment.
Couldn't afford it even if it was anyway. Never been so skint in my life.
Cheers Paul! Yeah there's a lot of people looking forward to the figures, me included, so let's hope it doesn't let me down! Lol!That's cool as f**k Mark, proper bit of kit. Can't wait to see how this goes, should be pretty brutal with that spec. :smilingimp:
