Brembo Max + Carbone Lorraine

I fitted the first stage of my brake upgrade today, as per title. Hoses and fluid I shall do next week.

Bloody hell - savage. Serious unrelenting stopping power. Good bite, and then major authority all the way down to zero. I now have to completely recalibrate how I drive my Clio. Braided hoses next week should help firm things up further still. Very impressed so far though. Although after a few miles bedding in they have of course started squeeling at low speeds. I expected that though, and the extreme confidence in the cars ability to stop, more than compensates for it :D

Carbon lorraine pads anyone......

Probably not.

however:

Roffle. Maybe. I'll see how I get on with them TBH. So far the squeeling doesn't bother mer at all.

3 Hours + Autosmart Tardis + Wonder Wheels + Clay + 3 Applications of Fairy Power Spray in order to remove the dust :(

Oh well. I'm not too worried personally. Worth trying everything once :) Track performance is more important to me than looks. I've never been part of the toothpick car cleaning brigade so I'll just live with it :)

(for now lol)

16 Months IIRC this car went without a clean so Detaling is not your thing I'm guessing LOL

  Cup Turbo, Flamer
Great combo to be fair! I've got the same but only HC discs, epic stopping power, shame i've got s**t tyres on at the moment so locking is an issue!

Braided Lines and Fluid next for me too!

Used the same setup at Bedford earlier this week. Bloody brilliant, no fade, nothing just consistent reliable (epic) stopping power.

Quick wipe of the wheels immediately afterwards and they are fine.

However much I like them for the track though, I've changed back to road pads for the road. I could imagine many people could live with the squealling, it's pretty mild, but it's not for me.

Track pads for the track, road pads for the road!

I love the Pagid Blues when they squeal - driving round london they end up sounding excessive after a while, but that's part of the fun :p lol

Just been up the shops and it's all properly nicely bedded in now. Crazy combo. It feels like Chuck Norris has just grabbed your front discs and isn't letting go. Now I see why they say you don't need 4-pots on a Clio. I could do with some sticky track rubber now though I think ;)

And on the subject of sticky track rubber...

Was very interesting on Monday as it rained in the morning and me with my road tyres was zipping past just about everything on the track.

Come the afternoon and a dry track I was slower than just about everything with trackday tyres (and that was probably 90-95% of attendees). It was annoying enough that my next set of tyres on my spare wheels will be trackday ones.

Look up Hankook RS2's;)

Win in the wet, win win in the dry;)

you'll have a right laugh cleaning your wheels too fella!

Not to mention the rest of the car :quiet:

Daft question but what causes them to squeal? Is it pad to disk contact due to the compoud of the pads?

Reason i ask is French car mag fitted CL's to their ph1 and fitted some self-adhesive rubber at the back of the pad to cut down on the squealing :S

They come with adhesive backing anyway. I'm not sure why they squeal so much but it doesn't help that they don't have any springs.

i wanna go CL i really do but theres another horror story about them killing alot of paint on 50% bodywork on ms at the mo.

there was a black scooby on them at the time attack at oulton, stopped really well but screamed like a baby, mustnt of bedded them...

think im gonna stick to DS2500s and some crn small grooved brembos

ive said all that n TDK is turning the same tbh, no doorcards, two seats n no carpet ffs

i need a daily tank n then she can become fully track slutted

Power is nothing without control or so they say...

So late-braking is now how you roll?
(myself got the Brembo HC w. Ferodo pads, more then once while late braking, i feel the ABS almost kicking in... as to locking the Fr. wheels)

That Scotland vid sounds great!

Carbone Lorraine will be releasing a new fast road brake compound very shortly. This will cut down the noise and dust levels whilst maintaining the high friction co-efficient. I'll post a thread when we get more information and prices...

Sounds good.... I'll be keeping an eye out for updates :)

The only reason I wouldnt use them is because my wheels are white! Awesome when they're hot!

You should hear my brakes, actually hurts whenever I brake doing slow speeds. I use the handbrake so I dont have to be on the pedal for more than a few seconds, f**king terrible. Cheap ass pads FTL, Ive got a video somewhere....

squeel is from vibration and resonant frequency. That's very basic, I'm not an NVH engineer

PF97's are what you want!

I took mine off today...

A truely awesome pad, but the amount of dust and crap they create is unreal! especially for road use

The whole caliper is covered in baked dust and the gap down the middle of the pad is completely filled with baked and by the looks of it galzed over metal!

you love it! wonder wheels the paintwork, industrial strength shizzle on the wheels (i'll get you the details)

= no bother, and you can carry on headbutting the windscreen too :D

the carbon Lorraine pads are 3x worse than pf's ;)

Ok. Perhaps I should have added in the OP, that these brakes are specified for stopping, on a track that rapes brakes. I'm not bothered about dust, or how long they last. If I was, I would have chosen road pads ;)
