Bucket seat fitment (cobra)

  #174
Just need someone to clarify a few things if they can.

Basically I'm looking for some bucket seats (most likely cobra). I know I need side mounts and then something else to fit them to the car.

I've seen people weld bars to the floor and then fit the sidemounts to these bars, anyone got any pics or info on this?

I've also heard some people mention the x-low subframes but can't find these anywhere? How do the seats sit on these frames?

If anyone could post up some pics of how their seats sit with however they've mounted them that'd be great :) I want them fairly low, but not too low as I'm only 5'10" lol. I'm thinking normal subframes would mean the seat height would remain the same as standard, which IMO is far too high!

Extra low subframes are the only way to go unless you're the same size as Christopher Baggins. You can order them from Cobra when you get the seats, retailers/distributors might not know what you mean but if you order from Cobra you'll be fine.

It was so long ago I bought mine I cant remember. I would have thought more in the region of sub £100 for the pair.

Think the normal ones are 140 for the pair. You got the x-low ones paul?

Have dropped cobra an email, will see what they say :)

Are you talking about the sliding rails etc Paul? When I bought mine all I bothered with was the side mounts and extra low subframes. This was for two reasons 1 I'm the only person who drives my car so having the position fixed wasnt an issue and 2 I wanted the seat as low as possible being 6ft3, putting the sliding rails in lifts the seat another 1/2" to an 1" or more IIRC.

they way i understood it you couldnt fit extra low with daytona only bucket?! maybe ive miss understood that but tbh taking the 15mm washers out like i did! is low enough you wouldnt want it any lower! for me its perfect :)

From cobra:

Thank you for your recent interest in our products. The Renault Clio lowered subframes retail at £85 each, inclusive of VAT and carriage, so with your 10% discount would work out at £76.50 each and would take approximately 7-10 days from date of order.

Will see if mad motors can do em for less than £150 delivered.
