CALIPER PAINT HELP

Car  172 A Cupwork Orange™
HI,

i painted my calipers blue using hamerite smooth left it over night to harden poped round town a few times and poped home the paint seams softish now,

i used hamerite smooth gave it two coats i have a slight suspision i have used the wrong paint is hamerite smooth the hight temp paint and if so whys it going soft lol

well finished it at 7pm last night and tried it this morn at 9:30am just wondering if therew was 2 versions of hamerite smooth a hight temp one and normal one

Sounds like you might have applied it to thick and the paints cured on the top and still soft underneath . I hammerited a vice once and and put it on too thick , it took a good week to go hard . Driving you car " might " help as the heat will help the paint to cure faster . I used hammerite in aersols when i painted mine , lots of thin coats and it dried very quickly .

so is hammerite smooth the correct paint i should have used?

i didnt know if there was two types of it or is it all high temp stuff..
1)hammerite smooth
2)hammerite smooth(high temp)

engine paint most people use, you can get it from Halfords for under £5 .as its designed to work with heat and not melt away

normal hammerite is fine, tis what 99% of people use

Cheers mate, i have just been bricking it for the past hour as im doing a trip to scarbrough from hartlepool today and didnt fancy paint splating all over ..

thx for all who replied it is seriously appreciated :D

I gave mine a coat, then left them about an hour and a half before doing the send coat, once i'd done that I left them over night before re fitting the wheels to the car.

I too used Hammerite smooth.

is that best to leave it 24 hours before putting wheels back on ???

or is it fine putting them back on as long as you dont drive for a day???
