anything is a good move over a viper imo.... they are w**k!!!!

I have fitted a BMC CDA to my 172

Quite straight forward and they look very good quality.

You have got to make the elbow shorter as the unit is quite large and are made universal fit. You just need to make sure you get a good cold air feed to the aiir box. I tryed it without the feed and it sounded fantastic but reduced power. I then removed the valve thing that every1 goes on about and fitted a air feed replacing the fog light.

Dont bother, gains if any arent noticable.

Just makes a nice noise.

The same noise can be had by pulling the pipe by the battery out of the airbox.

(Ive had 2 bmc's on mine)

cheers for your comments guys i am wanting to go down the route of full system, decat bmc inlet work and remap so will the bmc become better when these are all done and mapped correctly cheers

I'd get one m8. I ran mine without a cold air feed and it sounded great but obviously wasn't ideal.....now it runs much better with a CAF. When I was getting the car mapped on the rr it came out at 182bhp (std ecu without an decent air flow) As a test he then lifted the BMC up very slightly to allow the fans air to reach it and it lifted to 188bhp.....but the mid range was 12bhp better off in some areas! As long as it is fiited correctly and has a CAF it should make a difference imo.

cheers for that buddy that has really helped me in my deicsion when i had my vts it was rated as the best piece of kit you could get so should be the same for the 172's thinking of routing it across the front and down the left hand side of the engine bay rather than going down the right hand side what you think?

Do a search for the acoustic valve. Not really needed and once removed makes a nice big space near the near side fog light...thats where mine is now but havent put an 'end' on it yet

Same sort of thing as mine but mine goes down to the right of the pic and out of the foglight hole..like this

No, still stuff in the way.

See above post for optimal configuration.

bugger i thought if i took out the fuel would have enough room i cant get to my accoustic valve as it is at a silly angle and cant get my fat hands it what else can i do for a good feed?

Wouldn't bother tbh, ITG panel filter, then remove the std cold air feed that runs to the acoustic valve, then run a new cold feed from the airbox to directly above the top of the valve
Still get cold air + bypassing the valve and being open ended you get decent induction noise, combined with my other mods def better throttle response and pickup, and no probs after being in standing traffic, the cold air is picked up from same place as the £400 Maxogen so it's good enough for me

AND back to standard in 2 mins ;)
