cam belt and axu belt all in £300 on clio 172!

hi im new to the forums,
the missis has just got a clio 172 and its due a cam belt (5 years old) so i got a quote from renault and they wanted over £500 so i went down to our local garage thats gt a very good rep and he said £150 for cash:rasp: (25 an hour for 6 hours)
and the cambelt kit fro 110+vat and axu belt for aprox £20 (i get traid prices)

plus the aux idler and tensioner, plus the cam caps

hope he has the specialist renault tools

he has the specialist renault tools and ill get the idler ext done aswell wont cost much. i think the cam caps will be in the kit if they are needed for the job but may be wrong, will up date soon

if its an OE kit the caps are NOT in the kit and are around £10

as already mentioned by Fred, unless your labour is pretty much free its impossible to do a full, proper job for £300

the idlers/tensioners DO cost 'much', buy them in the proper kit or you will end up paying way over the odds

Not as good as my price then payed £130 for the kit then my local garage who as my dad being a mechanic knew him well and said he is good done the job for £60 i only had him do it as he done my ex girlfriends brothers 172 cambelt and he had no problems and iv had mine done for almost a year now and still going well and he used all the proper tools i took the car in at 9am it was ready by 12:30 not bad i say.
