Cambelt, help!

  RenaultSport Clio 172
Hiya everyone

My '02 plate 172 is currently running with just shy of 69k on the clock so I'm preparing to book her in for the cambelt change and 72k service.

My local dealer (Dixon's in Barnsley) have quoted me £350 for the service (it's the big one it needs according to the book) and a whopping £650 for the cambelt sorting.

This seems a tad over the top to me, but I wanna see if I'm being unrealistic or not.

Any thoughts on what the right ball park price is for this and also, is it worth saying that I should really get it done by Renault?

Thanks guys
:D

Dont get it done by Renault, find a Renault specialist in your area, cost will be around £300 or so all in.

At Rentech I had the 72k service, cambelt/auxillary belt changed, new dampers supplied and fitted, new rear brake discs and bearings supplied and fitted, 1hr spent buggering about with my Ktec stealth to get it to fit better...plus a few other niggly bits sorted out...

And it still came to less than that Renault dealer wants from you for just the service and cambelt!

Find an independant specialist if you don't want to get raped everytime you need something done.
