Cant remove head unit RS200

I am having difficulty in removing the factory fitted head unit in . I can release the unit using removal keys but it will only come out 5 to 6 cm. Any tips. Is it possible to get a hand round the back if the trim panel under the stereo is removed? It feels like one or more of the connectors is hung up on something.
