Car completely powerless last night

Car  FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU
I passed my test yesterday, so i went out last night stopped off a few times, then went to a mates house stopped got him. went to start the car and it died completely absolutely now power. It wouldn't jump start, so i got my dad over dad over and there were about 2volts going through the battery. So we got some jump cables and that worked, checked it this morning and there were about 12volts going through. I was using it when i was learning so it was only used for 1.5hours about twice a week.

It shouldn't just die like this, could it be the battery?

I have done a search but there are so many threads that don't apply and i would of been there for ages.

Sounds like it probably needs a new battery to me. They shouldn't die that quickly unless they're fooked.

I havn't got any amps, just a sony headunit and some 6x9's.

Does anyone have a rough ball park figure for a new battery?
