Cheap 182 TB's Project.

Following on from my/our 205 R1 build (which almost works)

Ive decided to (slowly) work on trying to fit a similar system to the 182.

Ive got hold of these

For not alot (£75 thats not the actual ones in the pic.)

All i need to do now is get an ecu and a manifold made up.

I will keep you updated as i go, just need to to a bit more research.

im intrested in doing this to as my mates dad does all metal work so could get the manifold made up easy were did u get the itb's from are they off a bike mate

yeah they'd work, we did it to my mates rover k-series 1400 engine (ran on the std ecu too!!)

not as good as Jenvey's etc, but a hell of alot cheaper!

get an inlet manifold gasket as a template and then get a copy of that machined/lasercut out of ali and then weld some tubes on, couple of bits of silicone pipe and off you go

is that all u need a template of ya gasket it cut out then the tubes and sum hose? thinkingbout doing this 2 my 1.2 8v as will be a good mode for around the 300 mark

so what would i need then fred how much would u charge for doing the plate our could chirs manda do it for me were he works? how would they join the the pedal etc and ya i no it pointless on a 1.2 buts im getting 4-2-1 man and cams so this will top it all off nicly

Yeah I'm sure some problems would be met along the way. It has been done to a Vtec engine searching on google. And I'm sure others have done it. I'd be very interested in doing this if it works out.

depends how tidy you do the install, we chop about the front slam pannel so people can retain the OE bonnet release, the secondary ecu gets hidden away, tidy loom (hidden inside the original etc etc) all takes time

you can do all the work for a Jenvey conversion and get it up and running in a day, but we like to do things nicely to retain the factory look inside the engine bay, rather than having wires everywhere and expensive components installed in a rubbish way. also we like to sort the dash and pedal configurtion so there no lights on etc

I had a 1.3 Nova engine that had blown a rod out of the block that was running R1 carbs on a bogg bro's manifold! Sold the carbs etc to a mate but he never fitted them....

Can you not convert the F4R etc to carb or does the ECU run more things than fuelling and timing etc? Be even cheaper that way!
