Cheap insurance for my 182?

Hi Guy's not sure if this question is in the right section but I though i'd have a punt anyway.

I am picking up my RB clio 182 Cup on Friday so I have been getting some insurance quotes today which I think have been fairly high, the best being £483 with Direct line.

I am 25, 6 years NCB, No convictions for speeding etc......

I had a 172 Cup about 3 years ago and that was only £577 per year then!

Maybe its me asking for too much but I thought I'd ask for you guy's opinion.

Don't use directline. They hammer you for any mods you want to add although being 25 at least they will let you have them.

I've just renewed with Direct Line.

182, i am 27, no convictions, I have 7 years NCB (including one claim in last 3 years, not my fault) and its £460! I shopped around for ages and couldnt beat it!

To Sky Insurance.... I saw your post about 2 days after i'd renewed!

Try Churchill there quite good. I was paying 500 quid on my cup with 5 years NCB until
my accident now it's 800.

I've answered this on another thread but why you have been told is not correct. The reason we were uncompetitive for yourself is because your postcode is excluded from our car club scheme so we were unable to apply any discounts.

In sky insurance's defence they've saved me over £300 on my original quote from another insurer.

That's with more annual mileage and my exhaust thats just been fitted added onto the mod's list!

Thanks for the reply, not many companies do that when you have something negative to say.

I'm surprised about the postcode since its not a bad area for crime but we are within 5 miles of the dreaded BD postcode so there is some reasoning there.

No problem at all Mike, if I spot something which isn't right I will always put our side across. Unfortunately postcodes are a real thorn in our side sometimes, in can be incredibly frustrating saying 'no quote' to someone who presents themself as an excellent insurance risk but falls down on their postcode.

Our postcode criteria is reviewed on a regular basis so it may be worth baring us in mind for next year.

Hi Guy's + Gals's, thanks for all the feed back, I ended up going with Directline in the end as I couldnt get a cheaper quote anywhere else.

Came in at = £533, which included me and the Mrs fully comp (Shes 21) with protected NCB. and £350 excess.
