Where has he been looking? I'd expect a 172 to be cheaper than that. Directline seem cheap for me.

you lots are getting ripped off bigstyle, when i was 21 only paid £900 with no no claims on my 172

Now it's only £700 with 1 years NCB at 22 nearly 23.

  1.2 Dynamique billabong
try brentacre mate, they are modified car friendly, you can select horsepower bands and perform any cosmetic mods without raising your premium

im 18 and pay 1200 for my 1.2 with a crash under my belt and thats with the company that i crashed with, i was getting quoted well under a grand with others.

I did a quick online quote with direct line. 19, 1 year NCB, no convictions, on a 1.2 Dynamique. £970!

f**k off.

Direct Line. My 21 year old mate pays less than £800 on an R26, I pay £700 on my 172...beat that!

Don't use price comparisson sites by the way, they are terrible. Cheapest I got on there was over £1800!!!

my mate pays 900quid with them and hes got same no claims and hes 29 500quid fully comp

all goes on location and if you park on a drive etc,but i live in a high risk area!!!!

Yeah thats true, I will have 5 years NCB...actually I think I may do already!

I should probably call them.

Also, when I bought the insurance this year I was at home, and will be at home more time than I am at uni in Leeds (8 months / 4 months respectively) do I need to tell them, I was advised that I don't have to but I'm not certan. I looked online and the price went up almost £700, which is just stupid because even though there are more crimes here the most that could be done is my car being broken into, but I don't leave ANYTHING inside, so all I would do is pay for a new window which doesn't go through insurance policy anyway!

Its crazy how they work it all out...and its harsh that all young drivers are tarnished with the same brush. I got insured under my dads name for 3 years, think we paid like less than £100 a year ... a very cheap solution, and if you do it through certain companies you can build your NCB bonus too. You are still covered if you crash into something and its your fault etc.
