So got the car back on Wednesday after 2 and a bit weeks in the garage. They only worked on it when they weren't busy so cost me a bit less labour wise. First off they pulled the brakes apart to see what was up with them, one of the sliders was very much stuck to they took apart my spare set and fixed that. The rear pads were shot so got some green stuff pads for them and bled them with 5.1 fluid as there wasn't enough Superblue fluid left. Then fitted the bushes all round. I cant believe how much of a difference these have made, the car is so planted in the corners now.

Then there's the exhaust ! This video doesn't do it justice, its the best iv got so far with the go pro. Have been trying to record the noise all weekend inside and out of the car but its still off. Its no noisier when idling which is good and at 70 its about the same as the silenced section. It gets 'raspy' at about 2k up to 3.5k then it trails off a little then at around 4.5k it gets very raspy up to the red line. Have had a couple of little baby pops from it but nothing to harsh.

Castle Combe next weekend. Can't wait :)

Castle Combe Spring action day yesterday, I really like these events, good mix of cars, stands and track action. Booked two sessions, 10:45 and 11:30. Noise tested and briefed early on (not before a big boy breakfast tho). First session I took Fletcher out for a ride, brakes caught me out coming up to avon rise, think it was the mix of new 5.1 fluid and the fact they have seen a few laps now. Took a Evo early on but I think he didn't know I was there as he passed me straight after ! Saw a couple of cars come off in that session but other than that we ran quite freely. Line was terrible coming through old paddock.

Second session I took Tim out for his first experience at Combe. Had to wait in the holding area for around half an hour while Dan's Cup got recovered :( Seeing it on the back of a loader just as your about to go out puts it in to perspective how dangerous these action days can be !

Again some spins here and there but again thankfully ran quite freely. Tried a bit of rev matching on the down shifts, needs some work as a few of them were quite heavy.

Looks like it was going well mate. Dunno if it's the go-pro but sounds Itb'd when your on throttle.

Glad you helped yourself to my pics mate. You seemed to be going better in the second session. Sounded quite loud and a higher pitch than others when leaving Quarry. Should have put the video on the camera and tried to catch the sound.

Cheers Pete.

Dropped the inlet and the rail guard off today to get Powder Coated. So with the guard out of the way I set about removing the redundant AC pipework.

MOT ran out last Wednesday, had to wait till Friday for the Windscreen to be replaced so it booked in for Tuesday :)

Got the side strips off and painted satin black like the diamond yesterday and today and also gave it a wash.

Next job is to purchase the PMS AC delete package and fit that along with the matched inlets when it finally comes back from being powder coated.

172 cup setup, The belt I had for it has been sat in a pool of oil for the past 3 years, lost some of the bolts and also you need to pursued the PAS pipe out of the way from what I gather.

The PMS setup looks easer to fit and also il make some monies back on the cup setup.

Yea with my friend mind. Thankfully the pipes are out now as well as the condenser so hopefully we wont have to take the Rad out. Will hopefully be doing it at the end of the month.

Car passed the MOT

Was looking at doing a track day this month but with LeMans looming closer couldn't afford to do one too far away so booked a morning session at Goodwood for Bank holiday Monday :)

My mate advised me after the MOT to raise the car up a tad so yesterday I did and put the front OZ's on ready for Monday.

After Goodwood the tyres will be well and truly shot, so im thinking a set of RSR's ? Would love to try 888's but there a bit expensive for my liking But they could be worth the cost I guess :S

Had a great morning at Goodwood today. Was a bit worried about the noise test as on the day the Marshals and clerk of the course said that there was a bit of a mix up with what was advertised. Was meant to be a 105 day but turned out it was a 98. Thankfully it sailed through at 94db :) Tim turned up when i was getting tested. He went and got a passenger wristband sorted while i headed out on my own.

Went out it the first session with a couple of Elise/Exige's and a 360. Caught up with the Ferrari in the corners but just didn't have the legs on him in the straight when he waved me by. First session went well (no spin this time !). Came in and picked Tim up for the next session. He kept quiet for the first couple of laps and then gave me some pointers that helped out alot :) Came back in a checked the pressures scrubbed all the dead bugs off the windscreen and lined up again. Had some great moments with a couple of the other cars on track and steadily got faster with Tims guidance throughout the morning.

The tyres held up very well again, its probably the hottest day iv used them and they have worn very well on the front, so I might get just two more and replace them for what is currently on the rear. Brakes will need looking at soon enough as well probably after Llandow in August.

Thanks for taking me out today Chris :)

Good pic of the mobile Triumph chicane there.

Felt like you were going well, don't think you could pedal a 172 much faster round there.

It made me miss tracking my R26, need to get it fixed so we can do a day at Goodwood soon.

Cheers mate.

The R26 sounds great when you next to it under full load, chirps and whoooooshes from the turbo then the low rumble of the exhaust :)

Looks good buddy. I'm getting some RSR's ordered when the saxo is back so feel free to try them out in mine. Found a cheap place for them too.
