Cisco training - any recommended centres?

Ideally in the north - Manchester would be perfect. :)

Me and a colleague are looking into getting some Cisco training - specifically on their low-to-mid range routers. Command line stuff, protocols, access lists, etc.

Any thoughts, guys?

Cheers,
D.

Urgh i start my ccna course in september :(, not looking forward to it the people in my class are all geeks and about 17ish. Then if i pass the exam ill be going onto the ccnp course, and then going down the route of either a degree in computer science or the next one on the list if i feel capable. revels had a strong influence into me doing this coure when he had a go at me for asking about 2 different jobs.

Can you try at your local colleges, though i doubt there will be a couse available for specific things and will more likely be for the main qualifications. Having said that i think the ccna course is actually basied on that kind of stuff is it not ???

If not then i think you should go down to whsmith or somewhere and try find a book or 2.

quite strange to here that people are doing CCNA before a degree ? you need to understand networking as a whole not just cisco`s take on it.
especially CCNP, you need real world experience without this no matter what quals you have you wont function in a live environment.

+ CCNP is very advanced.

i personally would sack uni off as its a waste of time in I.T it just puts you 3years behind the game & builds up unessary debt if not more and just get a starting I.T posistion and run the CCNA side by side with your job.

Start my ccna next year,
Joy.

do some reading before hand.

how long is the course ? most are one week long in industry, well all mine have been, you sit the course and then swat after work every night for 3-4 hours for a few weeks then pass an exam to get certified. just finished my CWNA, doing CWSP next year, im in wireless technology field amongst other network support.
currently run a large scale infrastructure wireless network.

I did the CCNA training courses late last year, i did the ICND1 (CCENT) through a company called Global Knowlegde, which was an On-line E-Learning course which i was pretty pleased with. with that course you also get a Cisco exam voucher. (which can be used for any cisco exam)
I then did the classroom based ICND2 (CCNA) course through a company called QA-IQ.
I just looked on their site & there are 2 centres in Manchester.

Myself and a few work mates have found QA to be really good for all of the MS, Cisco & Citrix courses we've been on (although that was in the Bristol centre)

I've now just got to get my ar*e in gear and do the exam!!

Hope that is of some help
