Civic Type R

  clio 20v

been on a course this week at college so been going in my car instead of van

one of the lads has a civic type-r so im goin out for a go in it tomorrow to see what it can do, also been talking of a little race on the lancs if its dry enough

what are the stats on these im guessing around high 6s to 60 and 17-18 secs to hundered, if its quicker ill make me excuses an not race if im gonna get raped by it

adi

0-100 has been clocked at 16.2 which amazing is quicker than a focus rs,

everyone has this reputation that they are slow, they are not, me mate drove his integra type r against one and there was very little in it, and hes clocked a 14.8 1/4 mile @96mph

  ExigeV6|Q5|DS3|Fiat

My mate has one they are not slow at all. Hes got 150mph in 6th gear on the clock already and its only brand new so when run it will fly.

Left my 16v standing.......very embarresing! Yes they are quicker than a focus rs i beleive.

add your gonna get raped!

Type r is also extremely responsive to any mods. A few hundred quid gets about 40bhp!

firstly the quoted top speed of the ctr is 145mph, sure it will get to 150, plus its brand new and hes topping out sixth gear then it wont do the engine good

as for the few hundred quid bit thats a bit b****cks really, sorry but the K20 lump in the type-r is in a high state of tune as it is, it would take enxtensive work to get 40bhp more,

remember even though the engine in a s2000 is a different two litre, it makes 247bhp which is a world record for specific output, with all the expertises of honda, the engine is basically tuned to the nuts,

im not slating you but id like to know how you could replicate all the honda engineering for a few hundred quid to get that extra 40bhp?

rs is very slightly quicker,

yeah i know,

that was not a std r5 though, dont need to tell me how quick r5s are i drive one of the bloody things, even with 150bhp 166lbft coupled with 850kgs= a very quick car

Ralph

I have proof of a CTR doing 150mph at 7500rpm with another 1500 revs to go.

For an extra easy 22bhp (proven) for £400 you can get a Magnex catback, quickshift stainless induction kit.

For another 20bhp which will cost you £500 you can get a twin power ingintion amplifier , leads and plugs (HKS) which then brings it up to 242bhp.

Then if you want to chip it for another £400 adds 12 bhp.

The S2000 is the SAME engine but different cams, ecu, induction and exhaust and is 240bhp.

The turbo conversion brings the CTR up to 300bhp and costs just over £2000.There is also a NOS conversion but dont know the price.

So no mate its no bollox.

My mate is ending the pic by email so enjoy........

Ragging a new car from teh start ait a problem with newer cars, and my 172 has lived a hard hard life....and funnily, its probably one of the only 172s with not a single problem ever!! even the washer balls are still the originals! LOL

As for tunning, its not in a terribly high state, it is for a rd car, but loads cans till be done. The head is still a casting, abiet with limited hand touches, and its still runnigna restrictive plenam. The BTCC cars run near 290bhp on a similar plenam, 12:1 CR, abiet loads of port work go into it.

But this just proves that loads of power is only a set of TBs and some decent head work away.....

Although i do admit that a Jap made exhaust will cost you teh best part of 400-500 quid! LOL

Devistatingly fast though.

i didnt doubt the fact it could do 150mph on the speedo,

but get yourself to honda-r.org.uk or whatever it is, they tell you that for one

ctrs do not rev full scale to 9000rpm the jdm ctr will rev to 8800rpm max and it has a higher redline believe it or not, the uk ctr will rev to 8500rpm unless hi rev counters f**ked,

the engine in a s2000 is different, its not i-VTEC for a start,

besides your point was you can achieve 40bhp for a few hundred quid

and the grand total for what you claimed to give that increase was £900 quid, which you could probably increase any cars performance for that money plus the chip another 400 quid

1300 quid for 54bhp! might as well use nitrous!!!

And lastly mate, the CTR is overall a faster car than the Focus.

0-60 - Focus is 5.9s - CTR is 6.4s

0-100 - Focus is 16.7s - the CTR is 16.2

Top speed of a Focus is 143mph - Top speed of a CTR is 147mph!

From 70mph to 0mph the CTR stops quicker than a Porsche 911 turbo - 44 meters.

Happy?

not really they look like a MPV,

yes actually i disagree with my previous statement after the rs at pod last sunday apparently got beat by a ctr in the wet,

rather my r5 any day of the week, anyone whos driven one will tell you that!

and in the real world the driver skill counts as they so closely matched, the better driver in either car would win, figures are one thing, replicating them yourselves is quite another

  ExigeV6|Q5|DS3|Fiat

The engine in a CTR THE SAME AS THE S2000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just with different cams, ecu, induction and exhaust!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have proof of a CTR doing 150mph on a german autoban with 4 people inside at 7500rpm.

Quote "ctrs do not rev full scale to 9000rpm the jdm ctr will rev to 8800rpm max and it has a higher redline believe it or not, the uk ctr will rev to 8500rpm unless hi rev counters f**ked, "

i meant 8500 not 9000.

And lastley if you can get 40bhp for 900 quid on my car, go ahead!

Yeah, Ralph, i know you drive a 5. I was pointing out that video to the other people who wouldnt have seen it on the rtoc boards.

everyone should drive a gt turbo in there lifetime in my opinion

anyway getting back the point of the thread, about whether hed lose to a ctr, dunno what the spec, aint you got a 2.0 willy engine then i say you give it a bloody good go for the money

you can get nitrous fitted to you car, a 50bhp jet for under 900 quid if you shop around,

job done!:D
i can get kits now for up to 100 for 520 and orders over 10 for 420.....new form most fitters or specialists cost about 600....

teh focus RS is quicker than a CTR , dont know what mag you got your stats from, as the focus has been below 16 secs for 0-100, there is very little in it but the Focus RS is quicker

  S2000

Aaron,

Your taking two different tests for the Focus RS, ie the 5.9 and 16.7. Evo tested the RS at 5.9 to 60 and 14.9 to 100. Autocar tested it at 6.4ish and 16.7.

Anyway thats not the point, I still think the RS would be quicker than a Civic Type R. I would however ignore the RS EVO times coz I think they got a dodgy(overboosting) car! I wouldnt think twice about taking a pop at a Type R, however if I saw a RS i would.

CTR is a good car, but very ugly and MPV style. It may as well have Mrs Miggins Pies on the side. If you are thinking of buying one...save up a bit harder and buy an s2000

the gear box is ace in them .. my friend has one but we are yet to race them off the mark...a few weeks ago we fitted a piper cross induction kist to it and it sound pure evil! but it may have lost a few horses! ill see...i can vid the race but my ickle digi cam has no sound :(

  clio 20v

well i dont think were going to get to 150 mph more like around a ton so i mite have a go anyway hehe

we will have to hope the 2.0 clio beast coupled with brilliant driver skill from me does the business

the owner is only 21 and came to this from a fiesta zetec-s suffice to say its wearin a few battle scars from him losin it, he does admit the handlin is not excellant, i might send him out with the ap-22 an see what times he putting in beforehand

they (autoexpress) got last years september issue 16.2 for the CTR yet in another issue 17.8. It beat the RS in the September issue but not in another . Personally i think autoexpress are muppets. I mean what f***ing moron gets a 172 at 8.2 secs to 60 -Muppets!!!- As if a car that weighs 1035kg (mk1) and has 170bhp with nearly 150lb ft going be slower than my old megane 16v....STupid Retards i hate that mag for such muppetism! My 172 is way quicker than my old megane mwhahah. The RS is crap anyway

  Astra 1.9cdti XP

Might point out my wok mate who had a CTR sold it and is now looking at a Clio Williams.

Had a bit of fun now and again with his CTR and it was pretty even I could never have got passed though but he never pulled away!!

  FRS Mk3 Red edition

a 172 is no match for a CTR .i know for sure as i had a 172 and the g/f has it now.i am more than willing to meet up with a member from the midlands and let them have a go and we can put both cars together. My g/fs brother has a ITR and we have put both together(ITR & CTR) and their is nothing in it at all. with the CTR u get a free MAC course with a police instructor, which i did yesterday and you would not believe the amounts of grip to be had in a CTR.admittley in the wet it is s**t.

the CTR seems to get slated on a lot of forums and i just dont understand why.obviously this is a renault site, and you all love youre cars but ultimately we all are car enthusiasts in the end.

Dont get me wrong i love the 172, or i would never have bought one,i just think we all should be a little more positive about other cars.

putting on my flameproof jacket now!!

  S2000

Mate, mate, mate, no match??;)

Your sadly mistaken, I have never seen a CTR dip under 15s t the 1/4 mile, a well driven 172 can. The cars are so evenly matched it would all be down to driver skill at the end of the day. Ive driven a CTR and felt no difference in power, dunno if thats due to me having a rapid 172? If I lived in the midlands Id be champing at the bit to have a pop at you!!

Dont even get me started on what a 172 could to do to a CTR in the wet!! Did I hear anyone say traction..............
