Quote Hillpower:

Catalytic Converter By-pass Pipe.
CBP14CL
Direct replacement straight through pipes allow exhaust gases to vacate the engine far quicker allowing better filing of the combustion chamber aiding engine pick up and power. (Vehicles registered after 01/08/92 require a cat for emission regulations). Supplied with mounting bolts.

I have a J-Reg clio, which im pretty sure was registered 91, but will make sure, does that mean its legal for me to replace my cat with a striaght through pipe? also would my insurance company need to know?

Yup - 01/08/1992 is first K plate - your sorted!

Got my cat in the garage incase I cant find a pal to test it for me :devilish:

p.s. just wondering does that mean i can leave the DE-CAT pipe on during the MOT?

or does car before 1992 still have to pass a emmissions test?

yes all cars have to pass an emissions test, just for cars registered before 1992 the emissions levels are far less stringent than emissions tests for newer cars

yes you can leave the decat on as there is no visual check for a catalytic convertor, which means no car needs one fitted, this is a misconception of the law

well bobs your auntie and anna your uncle, de-cat here i come! who would have thought they was a big advantage in havng a J-reg over a K-reg
