Clio 1.2 >1.8 Williams Conversion

  Megane, Former Clio

As Topic States...Anyone Done It?? How Awkward Is It, I Have Looms And Engine...Need To Know Weather Its Possible And Some Guidance For Fitting!

All Help Accepted...

Williams is 2.0!

1.8 16v is a Valver.

Its not difficult - same engine bay etc.. but make sure you uprate suspension and definetly brakes before doing anything.

  silver valver/hybrid

do you have a williams engine (2litre) or a valver engine (1.8)?

think it has been done before, dont think it is easy though!

First 1.8 williams Ive heard of :p

Its a pretty straight forward swap iirc. But, because youre swapping from a 1.2, things like brakes and suspension must be uprated to account for the new engines increase in power and wieght...

theres loads of topics on this already, so a search is probably your best bet mate.

Its cheaper just to buy a valver or williams mate. I looked at doin it, but would cost a fair amount, and re-sale value isnt great.

Good idea mate and good if you want a project but id say sell up and buy a williams or buy a valver then 2.0 it!!!

Youl get the bolder looks that way too!!!

Iv always thought the only straight forward conversion for the smaller 1.2s and 1.4s was to gtt it otherwise theres alot of work needed!!!

Whats been done to the 1.8 to give it a capacity of 2.0 litres?

Just an overbore is surely not going to give the extra capacity or has the crank etc been changed for the Williams one as well?

Ben can probably say whats needed to get the 1.8 up to 2.0.

crack, pistons been changed and you have the ECU? either way, if you have the stuff necessary its a case of just mounting it all in, but to be honest Id get a valver or Willy shell to put it in as you have the wider arches etc. Brakes and suspension will deffo need to be uprated, all these things will cost, if you can get a valver with good bodywork and breaks etc but a blown engine that would be by far your easiest bet... or just buy a Willy/Valver and use as a spare engine when sh*t invariably goes wrong.
