Clio 1.4 Aux Belt ... i think!

Well my mate asked me to take a look at his Renault Clio 1.4 "W" reg. He said it was making a knocking noise and it appeared to be coming from a pulley at the offside front of the engine bay. The pulley should be held on by 3 bolts, however there was only 1 fitted. As he started the car the knocking started and it was coming from the pulley, it was moving slightly side to side then disaster, the 3rd screw apparently not tight jumped out causing the pulley to jump off the air con pump (i think!! ive attached a pic if anyone can confirm). So ive retrieved the pulley and have managed to feed the belt onto it but because of the tension in the belt i cant lift the pulley up to the require height to bolt back onto the pump.

My thinking is ill remount the pulley to the air con pump and loosen the aux belt tension and then hopefully get to remount the belt to the air con pump. BUT how do i loosen the tension on the aux belt? Never worked on a clio before (im quite handy at DIY mechanics) Anyone got a useful guide or tips please?
Cheers
Ste

Pic attached, red area is roughly where pulley attaches, white is the air con pump? The pulley is obsecured as ive got it in my hand.

They are self tensioning, you need to get a 3/8 sump plug key or similar and this will slot in beside the said pulley twist and you'll be able to fit the belt.

BTW he is very lucky! normally when the belts go/jump off they wrap them selves around the bottom pulley, and jump the cambelt!

Thanks for the help Dan. I assume i remove the bolt in the middle of the attached pic (bolt is in inbetween 2 bolts at top of mount and 2 below) and then i can jack the engine up. How far can i safely jack the engine up? 4 inches?
