clio 16v/williams ECU or Lamba

i have a williams engine running off a chipped early phase 1 16v ECU.

What i want to know is does the early phase 1 16v ECU (Early ECUs are differnt from later ones) does it controlling the fueling via the chip or the lamba sensor at part throttle? Im pretty sure at WOT the chip does it,

its probably all psychological but i reckon my cars seem quicker (in relative terms) on part throttle rather then wide open.

is it my imagination?

Also another little questionis transmission strictly linear proportion loss, o is there an increased/ruduces proportion at higher/lower output?

Not sure, but didnt very early 16V not have lambdas?

tranny losses increase with power, but % wise they drop.

If they went up in proportion, at some point you will be loosing near 50bhp in friction alone, and i can be bothered to work it out, thats ALOT of heat.

Ill work it out if you want me to, you might be surprised.

someone sle said this, that early 16vs have no lmba or 5th injector, but "my early 16v ECU" is a 1992 and comes with a lamba and a 5th injector for cold start,

ben your new 16v will have the same ECU anyway, so im planning to sit back and let you do the research!

have you got it yet?

LOL.....you and Ben H!

not yet, as getting my old car MOTs in double quick time is prooving HARD!

My 16v has got a Phase 2 Renault 19 ecu on it mate. I thought it seemed faster. The 19 was a K plate and mine is too. Im not sure if the torque curses or anything are affected by the ecu or anything. I might just be kidding myself. The chip in the 19 ecu is the same as in my phase 1 16v one but the circuit board is slightly different. My car had a cat originally as well. Dunno if that makes any diff as some 16vs didnt on early j plates i believe.

I wondered if it makes any difference as the 19 16v is nearly as quick on paper as a clio, yet it is a lot bigger and probably a lot heavier. Could the ECU maybe be different to increase power maybe in some way? AS the 19 16v has a 0 to 60 of about 7.9 and the 16v is only .2 of a second quicker. And why is a megane coupe which is basically the replacement for a 19 so much slower to 60 and it is a 2 litre 16v! weird. 8.3 to 60 i believe.

MOT... opps mine has to go in!

Lofty, my trahsed valver is a ph1 without lambda or 5ª inj...

the other two valver ecus are:

S101262105 - HOM7700851741
S101262102 - HOM7700851741

Take a peek at yours.

No one could tell me if any valver ecu would fit a Willy. :( changing the eprom of course.

About the ecu going closed loop to open, I read somewhere that the 172 ecu only beyond 4000rpm forgot the lambda. Dont know if this is true and if the same rpm aplys has well to the valver/willy.

you can fit your ecu a eprom flashed with the std willys maps. Or... HillPower.

I cant remember what mine is. MY mate tried it on his and then I just tried it on mine and it worked so I fitted it. Cant be arsed to take it out again now hehe.

Paul16v, its so easy to check the ecus number... get your hands dirty! MOVE IT!!! :)

btw, did you swaped the ecu or just the prom (or eprom if already been flashed to a new one)?

This is me guessing, but doesnt the 19v have a diferente exhaust manifold? std ecu tuned for better gains on torque... hum.. no? and what about AC? when you start the AC the car idles higher... who comands this? the ecu? if so, then the ecu must be diferent.

Can anyone comment this?

btw, since Im in favor of the earlier agreement that software is a service and not a product (you should charge for software!!!) here it is my std valver prom... its on intel HEX.

yeap... what a hell? eheh good luck. :)

I swapped the ecu. It is easy to check the ecu yeah but I cant be arse to take it all apart to get it out again. Its in a stupid place in the clio. Took it out enough times already! Adams_16v has a 19 16v so that should be the same number.
