Hi

Ive been too look at a 172 today its a 2003 in silver the cars done 66,000 miles service books stamped upto 50,000 were its had its cambelt changed at sunwin renault, The bodywork is virtually spotless interior too wheels have virtually no marks on them and it has conti sports all round.... To say i want it is an understatement but ... The engine management lights on..The salesman said the cars battery was flat soo this expains the engine management light and that they would sort it if i bought the car.. What i want too know is does the management light come on when the batterys weak/low ? or is it something too be more suspicious about??

nothing to do with the battery, nothing to worry about, probably just a misfire, new plugs and leads will sort it

how much are they asking?

EDIT - what did the light look like?

sqaure box with a wiggly line, or the engine picture one?

I would expect the dealer to fix the warning light, as a renault dealer, he should. If you like the car soo much i don't see a problem. You should get a warranty as well. Depends on the price as well.

The lights the engine management light for sure, im going back tomorrow to have a look at it properly and drive it.... it really is in fantastic condition bar the light on the dash is my only real concern. I d replace plugs etc anyway .. The cars up for £3500 ive been too look at a few and this is by far the best...

lambda sensor then if its the picutre of the engine, £3.5K is a bit steep, thats knocking on for 182 money

It is a Renault dealer thats selling it so all should be perfect for him should he buy it, the warranty helps as well. By the sound of it it will be a good 'un as main dealers don't usually put 7 year old cars on thier forecourt for sale. A bit of negotiation on the asking price and a major service thrown in and it will be worth it. Go Jimmy Go.

Haha yeh we'll have too see i did go and look at a silver 182 but was unsure because the front wings looked a different shade of silver it looked good but almost too good it was advertised for 3700 which i thought was quite cheap is it usual for the wings to be a slightly diff colour. I automatically thought accident damaged but so walked away. Im a bit lost atm .... Help :/

There's a very good 182 for sale on here for £4,500.
If you pay your membership, you can have a look.

£3,500 is too much for a 172 though, knock them down.

Yeah the 182 in the for sale is immaculate and has been treated really well plus has low miles. I would defo consider looking at that before you go for this 172 if you can afford it.
