Clio 172 cup v Clio williams?

  172 Credit crunch edition
Just need to settle a arguement with a freind of mine:S he reckons my 172 cup would see off a williams in a straight line and on track. However i think the williams would easily do my cup.
Any input would be appreciated tah muchly

i agree depends whos driving and how they drive anyone can win a race if they drive like a to55er and take stupid risks

I think the question you should really ask is, if you both have an absolute blast in you're respective cars, does it really matter?

Cup would smoke it

Nope.

Me against Tucks in his Willy up the Airfield strip several times over the last few years...I'd get maybe 1 or two lengths over 1/3 mile.

On track, around the Haynes Sprint track, I got my arse tanned by Mk 1's (not just Willys).

Around Brands with one decent straight thrown in, what I gained on the straight, I'd lose through the slower turns against the Mk1's.

Somewhere like Bedford, Combe, Goodwood, I'd probably be able to get/stay past.

in a straight line id say my 172ff was slightly quicker than my williams so a cup would be a little faster, round the corners id say my williams would take it no problems. couldnt give a opinion on a cup tho as ive not drove one.

There would be nothing in the corners and the Cup is faster.

The Cup is faster in a straight line above 60-70 definitely, very little in if before then.

Around corners it's simple physics, 150kgs more to haul round in a Cup than a Willy...which is why I got a good kicking at Haynes...it's all turns, 1st and 2nd gear, no straights.

I thought the 172 cup was 1020 kgs? Certainly not a 150 kg advantage for a willy.....agree with you about the rest though!

My Cup handles ace, but at the mo my Willy has it beaten for me, until I track the Cup and get the feel properly still unsure of the back end coming round to bite me at the minute.

Imo the willy would be faster round track than the cup, having owned both.. however thw willy is slightly more fun in the corners.. god i miss no. 283.. im off to the autotrader.. DAMN YOU ALL FOR MAKING ME BUY ANOTHER :)

Both the Williams and Cup (stock ones) with stock tyres will do 8.45 minute laps with the same confident track knowedged driver behind the wheel.

Eddd on here lives near the ring and owned both and said they were just as quick.

Personally the ring is a superb ideal to give you an idea which is a quicker track as its such a long circuit.

Throw different types of circuit etc at bothc ara dn the difference might show up but its tiny one looses some places one the other.

A tight track and either car could take it but I reckon a track with longer straights and the Cup will take it. By a baw hair!

As everyone knows on this forum, Cups rule the roost and Cup drivers refuse to lose.
