Clio 172 sport fixer upper!

Hey peeps, this i my clio. be gentle with me as i slowly de-chavin it lol



had it just over a week have have de stickered car as rear screen had a few, had the coilovers adjusted, balanced an tracking also been done an drives really well.

plans are new alloys, new exhaust system as this one stupid loud, bonnet raisers off, new clutch (being done very soon) and a general tidy up.
Hope you all like an will keep everyone updated.

the headlights look ok tbh, not sure to keep or not lol. deffo saving it, prices of clutch changes etc haha. but such a fun car an embarassed some bigger cars already

If it was me, I'd be going back to the standard lights, but it's your car mate.

Which wheels are you thinking of getting?

I haven't had much attention in mine so far. But haven't really had the weather to drive it hard either. I think with the lights just abit over the top with the black. Did you get a good deal on it? Anymore pictures?

but will be in a matt blue, soooo light compared to normal wheels but will set me back £1200 with tyres, if that don't happen then would like speedling turini's[h=1][/h]

I reckon with some more colour and standard glass it wouldn't be bad. I'm sure it will look better than when you bought it!

looks better already bud, the front door windows were tinted as well, so ripped them out in front of the guy an his face dropped as he only had them done a month ago. i leaving rear tints in but lights probley will change. deffo getting a HID kit soon as well. lol

You already have OEM HIDs :approve: or you mean a different colour temperature?

Nothing wrong with it, just headlights don't look too nice.

It looks nice if you like black on black on black

didn't know that, new to the clio scene, maybe if i de-tint front lights, they be better haha! the colour theme will be black and blue if i get them oz rims. buzzing about doing this car tbh, feels like a challenge coming to a different brand of car

Are Xenons not good enough? I think mine are mint

hard to tell with the front lights to being tinted, sod it, this weekend is de-tint the lights time an sort a few little niggles out lol

I think you will see a world of difference and actually be able to see up the road with your lights after detinting!

haha, this is very true. list for saturday is:

detint front an rear lights
bonnet raisers off
boot lock adjusted so light stops flashing
wash and polish
find a standard airbox and new driveshafts!

ok, so didn't get as much as wanted to do this weekend due to cold weather, snow an having more ink BUT the bonnet raisers are off :clap:. also managed to fix boot lock so no much light on the dash an i removed a second horn an airhorns! Did try de-tinting the lights but it wouldn't come off, tried white sprit, terps, brake cleaner, brake fluid (getting annoyed at this point!) and rubbing compound (very annoyed now!) sooooo, going to go to a local bodyshop an see if they have anything to remove the spray. If not, i guess i be buying some rear lights soon.

thinners will shift it just be very careful with the rest of the paint :S

Won't thinners affect the plastic?

thinners will mare the plastic , if left to settle and you then try rubbing. however watering down the the thinners until it is almost useless, i.e 10:1 you can then apply very light pressure without risk or maring the plastics

also, today i brought a valeo clutch for 98quid brand new, so just got to wait for scrooge to get back to me!

Lol, reads like my project thread. Just bought a 172 in black with coilovers, loud exhaust, dodgy front grill etc. Going for a more standard look also. How does the car drive with the coilovers raised. Mines awful at the moment, was planning to put standard suspension back but might be ok if its raised a bit and all alignment sorted??

110% better tbh, i hardly brake at roundabouts etc unless i got to stop for traffic, best handling car i have had. still about bouncy on bad roads but so much better. if it all done propley an not just thrown on they can make the world of difference where you based? cold go see the guys that done mine if you in essex

Based in Cheshire, but just been down to a local company called Northwest Performance. Nice turbo'd 182 outside and sounds like they know their stuff. Once I get some legal tyres fitted I think I will take it down for them to have a look at. Look forward to seeing how you get on with yours, what are you going to do about the exhaust. I'm thinking about keeping the sports cat and replacing the rest with a standard system or something similar?

I am going to get a custom one made by a local company, they specialise in exhaust systems and saftey devices and seem to know there stuff, also got a free power run on there rollers when current exhaust is on and when new one on. bonus! They have some mint cars in there including an fresh rs200, wow!

Today has been expensive, i have booked in to have the door and rear quarter sprayed after previous owner had it keyed and front wing to be done as paint chipped off, £250. should look good for fast show at pod

another update, have just purchased some 16in rota grids for £300 notes, happy days. just got to get two tyres an can get them on. picking them up sunday so pictures to follow next week.

rims are on! abit of a pain but look lush. seeing how close they sit to things, have decided that going to have a half cage fitted and so away with the rear seats. also changed rear lights back to standard and took the carbon fibre wrap off front badge an fuel cap. starting to make it my own now.
