Clio 172 wheels/suspension Whole Car doing my head in

right Came out the bodyshop today, first was the Bumper wasnt same colour as the rest of the car, a slight mis colour match, but hes used the same paint code tho,:S

Next fitted 20mm Spacers with the bolts inc then the 172 wheels on
went on easy tried to set off, couldnt :S so applied more throttle and bang it went, then there was rubbing with the suspension how if the wheels are made for a clio, so might need 25mm spacers now..

Next 1 thats doing my head in since ages is Wheel bolts, if just had another 1 (for the spacers) Snapped on me, so basicly i have 2 bolts holding 1 wheel on which is dangerous i kno but i havnt moved the car,

so after £450 spend on the bodyshop
£60 on spacer + bolts
£130 +£160 +180 on the wheels/tyres they dont FIT

Anyone please make me out of my missery :dapprove:

For a start, a good bodyshop should colour match to the car, not a paint code. After time, paint fade can be a big issue. Did you mention any of this before you took the car away. If you weren't happy with the service you paid for the issue should have been raised with the bodyshop.

^^agree mine comes back tommorow from having its bonnet replaced and wing done hopfully it will be 100%.

the only slight Different is that were they have sprayed the colour looks more silverish than the rest of the car, (car 6years old now) so what if i got it Pc'd will that sort it out ??

They told me before if they do it, that its a B@stard of a colour to match and been told by others aswell, but i noticed it when i got home whn the sun came out, then i was like fark sakes ye

Ok, what car is it, a 1.2? Or is it a 172?
Silver especially iceburg is notoriously difficult to match.

What suspension have you got and why the hell do you need 20mm spacers?? :S

what size and profile are your tyres?

172 wheels might require spacers on the lower models, but 5/10mm should be fine. 25mm is just getting silly tbh.

ok, mines a 1.2,

i have Spax coilovers, i though they were 10mm when order but they were 20 woops

172 wheels with i think its 195/45/16(a clio owner told me thats what i needed) and if i put the wheels straigh on with now spacers wont fit, only the back 1's do.

20mm spacers are far too big for the 172 wheels, you're altering the offset drastically there. Send them back or sell them on.
I had 172's on my 1.2 with no rubbing issues what so ever at the front lowered 60mm all round. Rears rubbed slightly which 5mm spacers sorted out. Job done.

^ il give it ago tommorow, doubt they will fit tho as with the spacers they fit nicely under the arch.

But any solutions to the Paint Work ?

some 1 mentiond im not allowed to polish etc the new paint for over a week, but with fcs coming i need to sort it out asap

i wouldnt polish fresh paint no. Colour match, only thing to do is take it back and say your not happy-Its your right as a customer

Bodyshop should really have matched it to existing paint.



As for your wheels/suspension.... you heard a bang pulling away? wtf?? have u checked whats happened? Might have damaged something, possible wheel scraping inside edge away?

^ weird you mention that, as i couldnt move away, so applied more acceleration and bang but was only a small 1, it was the bolt for the spacers (long 1's) which had gone more in than they should and was catching, but i have checked and no damaged has been seen.

Any decent bodyshop shouldn't have given you the car back with such a bad match as that tbh. Its even obvious from the poor quality pic.
