Clio 182 0 - 60.......

LOL.

I notice Top Gear have got the figures for the 182.................

0 - 60 7.4 secs !!!!!!!!!!

Have they just changed the 172 bit to 182 and not bothered changing the performance figures / detail, or is it gonna be an easy slay for Cup owners.

The figures are 7.1 (renault offical figs)

Typical topgear using old figures.

The cup should edge the 182. (6.9 vs 7.1)

I like to think of the 182 being in between the two, best of both worlds.

I think itll be an easy slay, everything Ive heard is that it wont be that much quicker than a 172, due to it having stuff like cruise control whichll make it heavier.

Cruise control? dude its a switch or two. couple of grams.

The cruise program is on the ecu.

Yeah itll edge it Im sure, but Mr 172/182 will be sat in Airconditioned comfort, while casually operating the electric window to display the middle finger:D

Tom182 - have you gone for the Cup suspension set up?

Whats this with 6.9 sec 0 - 60 for the Cup. You must have dug up a really sh*t copy of Top Gear for that time!! ;)

6.5 Secs - As tested by many a car mag and AP22s across the country.:D

Topgear havent tested the 182 come to think of it nobody has.

The 6.9 figure for the cup is renaults own. (i know its quicker)

Same as the 7.1 for the 182 (which will also be quicker)

Yes i went for the "cup" suspension which isnt actually anything to do with the previous cup setup.

yes, 6.9 is renaults official figure, but its for 0-62mph

so if the cup is in reality 6.5, then the 182 once worn in will be 6.7? Making it inbetween the two, or saw the law of averages would have you believe.

Having had a blast with a 172 behind me the other day, I have revised my opinions on 172s - real world there aint diddly squat between them, I think its just the handling and feel of the Cup that sets it apart.

182 is gonna be a very good buy what with all the toys, extra power to cope with the weight, and Cup esq handling.

A couple of performance mods would see it as the better car I reckon.

thats what im hopeing.

Actualy IMHO point to point the 182 may be faster than the cup

(due to the new power delivery)

here comes the flaming, plus it should actually weigh less than a 2003 172.

(Due to lack of spare and flat boot floor-less metal)

Wouldnt really talk about any Clio as comfort! Get an S-Class if you want comfort grandad. Old school hot hatches are meant to be RAW! Why you think the Golf GTi is such a boring whale on wheels now!

Wow, what a great comment, so cars with leather and alcantara are for grandads now..

old school hot hatches ?? welcome to the year 2004, the hot hatches are still as fast but are more secure and safer...

Having had a 306 Rallye before, anyone who thinks the Cup is a "stripped out racer" is kidding themselves...

When you drive 35,000 buisness miles a year in it, you soon miss little things like Air co, Sat Nav and electric windows. I test drove the V5 Golf, and yes it is a whale, thats why I chose the 172, But its rawer than most hot hatches even in 172 format.

Funny how some 172 owners are still unaware that CUPS have electric windows and can have climate control.

I think 182 came out to compete with new pug 180 (although I hear they didnt need to bother!) and the new breed of 200bhp plus super hatches that are out and about.

  172 sport,

tom what colour ya got and did ya get the spoiler pack im just looking atm as i miss the 172 and my stinking weasle mondeo dont do nout to cheer you up this should defo be quicker than cup or 172 as it has more power less weight and the cup was only liter not higher performance im looking at a titanium one with both packs to get the dark rims
