Clio 182 ~ Bonnet Paint Bubbles

  Skoda Octavia VRs
I was giving my Car (Clio 182, '54 Plate in Titanium Silver) a wash this afternoon, and noticed a couple of paint bubbles on the front lip of my Bonnet.

I was wondering if anyone else has come across this problem with their Car?.

I guess it may have originated from a Stone Chip, or something similar, but not sure the best way to go from here.. Whether it would be a case of getting the Car into a Bodyshop to get the areas rubbed down & touched-up, or whether it would be a case of having to have a larger area resprayed.

I'm not sure what the Renault Paintwork / Corrosion Warranty covers, so will have to have a look into that.

If anyone could provide any suggestions / information on this matter it would be greatly appreciated!.

All the best,
Gav1903

If you take that to a bodyshop the whole bonnet will be re-sprayed. Someone else started a thread recently about the same sort of thing happening, somone mentioned a renault paint warranty in there.

Renault have a 12 year (iirc) warranty on corrosion.

The terms and conditions are very strict (you must have FULL Renault main dealer history) and the car must be in 'good condition'.

Plus, that looks like its originated from a stone chip which is damage, not poor quality of the product.

Just get the bonnet painted, about £100 from a good bodyshop.

Cheers folks, it's just a bit of a b*llocks as the Car is in pretty good shape otherwise!.. Will have a look into a couple of local Bodyshops (Aberdeen), and take things from there.

Only got the CONSTANT Engine Emissions Light / Lambda Sensors issue to look into now!..

Cheers,

is it an original renault part? might have had a bump at some point and fixed using a paten part. look for a renault dimmond near the bonnet catch to tell if its an original part

might have been mine above...

mines is on the underside of the bonnet (above the light...on the welds.)

so they cant try the "stone chips" pish with me...unless i was driving about with my bonnet up...

The Renaults do have a 12 year corrosion warranty, BUT, your car has to have had the paint work assesed whilst being serviced (there should be a box in the service book that has been ticked to say that the paint work has been inspected)

If it hasnt, the corrosion warranty is null and void (i.e if your cars been serviced outside Renault)

I have this on the corner of mine, but nowhere near as bad as that. Took it to renault they first said it was a stone chip (which I doubt as there is rust on the underside) then refused because it hadn't been serviced at renault and had its corrosion check.

Mines barely noticeable so I'll leave it for now unless it gets worse.
