hmmm cos youve probably ragged it to f**k so better buy new and then you know what the history is second hand cars of these calibre are a bad ideaQuote: Originally posted by malbon on 29 August 2004
Eves. Youll lose more on depreciation instantly.
With quite a few nice cups that are only 6 months old going for 9-10k (mine especially !!)
whats the point in spending 3k+ more on a new 182 ?. Its pointless. There is marginal difference in looks and performance. I drove them back to back.
Jese. You could keep your williams and the cup for the price of a 182 !
This was my thinking when I got rid of the elise to get a hot hatch.
From that comment I know you havent driven either cars hard or at all! The difference in very noticable. But that was just one reason I upgraded from an 03 172 to a new 182. Oh, and I got a brand new 182 for £10.800 with metallic paint, and both Cup packs from Renault Birmingham.Quote: Originally posted by malbon on 29 August 2004
Toypup...I dont think there is anything to be not satisfied with the Cup in comparison to other performance FWD cars. Its right up there.
As for 2nd hand cars - your always going to get this - thats why some people buy new all the time - but cars like the cup are designed to be driven hard and as long as they are maintained and serviced well then I see no problem.
I guess its each to their own but I think most of the owners of the late 172s who sell up for 182s are kind of image grabbing - like the latest pair of trainers ! im not tarring everyone like that but it makes no sense to me.
If youve only covered 900 miles in the 172 you wont have had chance to get to grips with that properly yet. Id covered 22500 miles in just over 12 months in mine, then I drove TomClio182s 182 and couldnt really notice any difference. But since swapping to the 182 Ive had the chance to drive mine as hard as I used to drive the 172 and with the Cup suspension it handles massively better than the standard 172.Quote: Originally posted by malbon on 30 August 2004
Well fair play to you then.
Re-reading my comments I can see that it might get a few 182 owners backs up ! sorry chaps !
I suppose 0% is great for some people but I couldnt find a 182 for under 12.5k with the cup package and when I did drive them back to back there was honestly nothing in it.
That said - my 172 only had 900 miles on it and I didnt want to be bouncing it off the limiter. I was guessing by the pick up and mid range but thats probably not the best way to look at it seeing as a lot of power is delivered after 5k.
TBH though, I wouldnt want any more power through the front wheels until the suspension was made better. It copes with what it has but only just.
All IMHO of course
FWD just isnt for me though.
