Clio 182 with just decat? advice needed!

thinking of just putting a decat on my car and leaving the exhaust standard, as regards to lambda sensor and the out put will it send my car into limp mode? or mess about with anything?
i heard that just a decat will provide a small incresee in power, like 1 -2 bhp so that not what iam concerned about i would just like a bit more of a bubble from the exhaust, if u get my drift..
any body else here done this and if so hard thing to do? or relativly easy, havent had a chance to look at the exhaust much so is it detachable easily? they seem reasonable, but what is the best fitting link?

I have a decat on my standard exhaust. Mainly because the cat was f*cked! The only thing you will find is the engine management light will stay on permanently.

As for fitting, it cost me about £20 to get fitted in a local garage.

Easy to swap over, i noticed not change in noise on my standard exhaust.

leave the standard cat in place. its a very free flowing 200 cell cat anyway. if you want the extra noise a decat gives, just get the centre section removed on the exhaust. no hassle at mot time and no warning lights. no brainer imo.

my only concern is that mid removal would envolve welding? am i right? not a confident welder but could easily put a de cat in...

il keep considerign all this but i do like the idea of the no brainer ^^^^^ - haaa sounds good as long as its not to much effort to get it welded!

welding is not really an issue. its pretty straight forward but you will need to take it to an exhaust specialist so that they can use a stainless steel weld. thing is, the straight through centre section will never need removing, unless you don't like it. but the decat will, unless you have a mate that is an mot tester. i had a decat on my 182 a few years back but it was very boomy, made the mrs feel sick! lol. but the centre section is hardly any louder in the car than standard and sounds great from the outside.

I was thinking about the decat route with std exhaust like the OP to free up a bit of sound

I am going off the idea of a visible tail pipe so so this option as a cheaper alternative (as opposed to a cat back stainless system)...hhmmmm maybe not

not sure i can be bothered with the hassle of chaging come MOT time either

yeah i think the mid box will be the option o go for.

the problem is i really want a raspy like rally style slash Euro style sound that sounds like a raspy old can on hard acceleration! lol i no its not to everyones taste, but i think that it just sounds amazing... i love my car but i some time wud like just a little more noise from the old rs pot under the hood.... - p.s. i no i just sounded like smthing outa the fast and the furious... lol iam kiilling my self for not deleting it... haaa!

Go down the custom route mate, make it as loud/raspy as you want

you can't really get a miltek to sound like a rally car unfortunately. have you heard videos of christophers car on here? that is about as raspy as you can get a miltek, if thats not enough you will have to get a system custom made as sanders said. or a decatted yozza.

edit: sorry i thought you had a miltek. custom exhaust is still the best route for unique sound tho.

heard a yozza but not christophers car? i dont no what to look for on that... il do a search in a min, but ideally the rasp wud be no1! custom exhasut sounds good, i am kind of friendly with a bloke hu does his own custom exhuasts from the back of a garage.... might be able to hit me up! lol il keep u guys all posted on it tho...

p.s. luke... its fine to think i have a miltex... i some time image i do... makes me feel more manly!
