Clio 197 CUP Cambelt 2008 model

New member here. I have just purchased a 2008 CUP edition with 22k (with s/h,and mots to prove mileage) on the clock. I here that these cars require a cambelt @72k or 5 years. There is nothing in the paperwork to suggest that it has been done. Are these engines known for belt failures??? as with me only just getting it I could do with not spending more at the mo.
The ar I HAVE is a Racing blue model with the recaros and black speedlines + Air-con. It is immaculate and as new inside/out. I paid £6,100 for the car.

I have not had a Renault for years and I drive a Astra Vx-Line 2012 CDTi 2ltr 165, (DTUK tuned to 218 bhp) as my daily driver.
What are your thoughts guys on the cam-belt? and where is the cheapest best place to go for it?

Why is the 197/200 a fair bit cheaper than the 172/182?

Say what? I got quoted £900 for a cambelt service at my local Renault, and that was down from £1100. (I wouldn't/didn't go there, but I was curious of price).

you'll know this already but the waterpump should be changed too, why they don't build it into the price i don't know!

Ali your place do it wrong then as its not 399 for rs models.

On a 08 plate they changed it to 6yrs or 72k

Simply because of the Aux belt set-up.

Yea i know, the only reason we do them at that price is to get the work. I can do a 197 belt in nearly the same time as a 1.4/1.6. About 2 hours ish. 225 etc is abit longer.

Most of them we see are ok normally as we dont see anything over 40k. Did have a low miler once, around 20k and the water pump was like a Christmas tree.

I am located in south wales near Swansea. Right guys is it 6 years old on these 197 08 plates or 5 years?? to change the belts???? mine is an 08 plate like I said with22k on the clock.

I live in Cardiff and drove my 182 to Birmingham to go see Fred at BTM to get mine done 4 months ago. Couldn't fault the service but I know there are lots of traders on here.

Alot of my customers are from South Wales. The service interval is 5y or 72k.

If you look in your service book it shall tell you the interval. From 57/08 plate they changed the interval to 6 years 72k. Pm me your reg and I shall check for you in the morning.

Get it booked in with Dan. A few hundred quid now or a new engine/ rebuild. Decisions decisions.
