Clio 200 - burning engine oil FAST

Car  SG 200
Hi all,

Not sure if this is a common or normal thing, but my 200 is going through engine oil much faster than any other car I've owned.

I've done about 5k miles since buying it and it's been serviced during that time when they filled it with oil and I've put about 4 litres in it since, and now it's running low again!

Could this be part of a larger problem? Should I get it looked at?

Cheers!

I'd have someone look into that. Mine uses just under a litre every 6k, but the engine does get worked well.

Have a look around and see if there are any leaks, perhaps take off the undertray and check the sump etc.

Either leaking or burning it, either way it needs looking at. 4l in 5k is massive! My old 197 used less than a litre in 12k

Mine used to get plenty of stick and hardly used a drop.

Used a little on run in, but other than that.

IIRC renault say an acceptable oil consumption is about a litre every 800 - 1,000 miles!
Definatley would be checking for leaks tho.

Thanks all!

Got it booked in with Renault on Friday. Will be going home from work via Halfords for a top up until then.
