Clio Cup or 172 as company car

If you do a lot of miles i would have to agree at getting a 172, i have done Telford a few times to my head office, and there is nothing worse than getting all sweaty while stuck in a jam on the motorway, then getting out at the other end with big sweat marks down your back/under your pits! Not great for making a good impression with customers!

The main reason i got the Cup was because i only make 2-3 trips to telford a year, and the rest of my driving is done at the weekend (i can fall out of my front door onto the train station platform in the morning, so no driving to work for me) for fun!

You can now get climate control on the Cup, so not an issue...

id go for a 172, more comfort + the seats look better! the cup can have climate control but surely this defeats the object of stripping it out in the first place?! also, the 172 has more airbags so would probably be better as an added safety factor if you have to cover distance. you could always buy the cup alloys for it

As Spirez says, it then defeats the whole ethos of the Cup in the first place, that of a stripped out racer!

Coming froma 306 Rallye I can tell you that even the basic Cup (minus CC) is definately no "stripped out racer" and its got a LOT more toys than a Rallye has...

If Renault went the whole hog like Peugeot did with their Rallye models then the Cup would have a much lower spec, it would weigh even less and be even quicker!

Although oddly the 306 Rallye also had CC as the only option, so err?!

Yeah, i know it aint that stripped out, before i got my VTS i looked long and hard at the 106 rallye and 106 GTI, the only reason i didnt get either was the free insurance on the VTS plus a really good APR from the Citroen dealer (although that was about the only good thing i got!). But if i wanted CC etc, then you may aswell go the Whole Hog and get a full spec 172 with all the goodies.

Keep thinking about getting a 172 for the company car, but the extra cash is nice. mind you, i wonder if i could wangle a V6...........i think the 2 seat might cause a problem though!
