Clio Cup UK - All Testing Suspended

Todays session at Brands Hatch was scrapped today as there was yet another suspension failure.

Issues with ball joints apparently

Teams have got together and decided to stop all testing until a solution is found.

Coming from a company that won't admit there is a problem with bonnet catches I wouldn't want to get behind the wheel of the racer either.

I can only think of 2/3 people on this site that have had bonnet catch problems.. hardly call that a major concern!

Not all Clio owners are registered on cliosport though are they Jon.

Do you not watch the TV? lol

There have been some nasty accidents already that appear to be linked directly to this ball joint failure.

I've seen a release from Renaultsport somewhere on my internet travels but can't find it right now.

Whats a TV? That one of those things you have to pay to get a licence for? Can't afford that!

I realise it's been on watchdog etc but I have no idea of what the offical numbers are of those who have had problems.

And to stay on topic: Suspension problems would however make me thing twice!

I WD40'd the bonnet catch yesterday. The metal plate, secured to the the underside of the bonnet has rusted to buggery. The spring holding one of the catches pinged out to it's open position after about thirty seconds. Not good enough - my car is not even two years old.

Mine has been greased from day one and its in tip top condition.

mines in great nick and 3 years old, my mums 05 clio is in good nick too.

The majority of clio owners are not that way inclined though...

Didn't think they were for the standard 197 but might be on the 197 R27 or later Cup version?

This is why you should never buy the first models released. ALWAYS teething problems!

Exactly, let them iron out any problems, then buy the second phase :)
