Clio Extreme, 2005 Model

  CLIOpatra, L22EE W™

Hi All,

Right as you may have gathered in a different post I have done, that I have just put a new KENWOOD CD player in my Clio. But I noticed that my Clio has only got 4 speakers as standard. There is 1 in the driver and passenger door, and there are 2 small ones on either side of the dash board.

But this is not good enough for me  so I am looking to upgrade, to get more sound in the car. I have noticed that there are speaker slots either side of the back seats, plus either side of the parcel shelf. So I think I can add at least another 4 speakers in the car. But I have got NO idea on what to buy.

I suppose I will need to measure the free space within these speaker slots, as this will be the 1st step, but what else do I need? Wires, Sub? Amp? Also where would I look to get this stuff installed properly? Halfords, perhaps or not?

Suggestions please ??

So you have front components so far. Midbass (In the front doors) and Tweeters on the dash. You can definately get some 13cm coaxils in the rear doorcards but i dont think the ones on the sides of the parcel shelf actually are for speakers. If you want to keep your bootspace you can get some 6x9 subwoofers which DONT have tweeters built in. You could amp those up with a 2 channel amp or buy a kit of the tweeterless 6x9s which come with an amp.

Ok, so where would I be able to get this stuff fitted? I understamd if you dont buy from HALFORDS then they WONT fit it for you. I learnt that earlier, as I bought the KENWOOD CD player from Argos (with free fitting), but I need to arrange an appointment for the fitting service, so I phoned HALFORD today, and asked will they fit it for me - I was willing to pay £39.99 and they said no, because it wasnt bought with HALFORDS.

So I simply fitted it myself (saved £39.99 ;)), Piece of cake really, but fitting Subs, amp, etc.. will NOT be a piece of cake for me, cuz I wudnt know where to start :(

You wouldnt want Halfords fitting it either! Well done on doing your head unit yourself. Rear speakers will be no trouble for you to do if the there is wiring there already. If you dont want to do it yourself try and find a local ice dealer as they will charge less and do a better job than halfords! (Hopefully).
