Working for Renault UK I have been lucky enough to see some "proper" photos of the next gen RS models, and I think all you neighsayers will be silenced when the next models come out, they are all really nice looking in my eyes - the Twingo too.

I may be biased but I think the new generation of Renault's coming through are in general really nice, Magane Coupe, Lagune Coupe etc...lovely looking cars and now are really well screwed together too.

I like the new Clio 200 and love the Megane 250, hate the normal megane coupe and the 4 door version. New laguna has grown on me and i love the laguna coupe.

Fancy a Megane 250 next tbh

I'll believe that when I see it!

They are mate, the amount of warranty work has almost halved in the past few years and in the German JD power survey several of Renault's new models have been in the top 3 for quality ahead of German built cars! The new Laguna, Megane, Clio, Twingo, Koleos and soon to be new Espace too are all very well made cars - after a LOT of time and investment spent on quality.

I take all the JD power results with a pinch of salt. The expectation levels of someone buying a 25k BMW will be far higher than someone buying a 10k Renault. The BMW see's any problem with the car as a bigger let-down than the Renault owner.

I'm not buying the improved quality story until time proves it to be so. Better quality plastics does not mean better build quality. Torn chairs is just one issue that springs to mind. Rusted subframe covers. What next - melted steering wheels?

They're lovely cars but I'll believe the improved quality when I experience it. Has the quality of the dealers improved? Ergo does the c*ntstomer actually still have to explain that the intervals are not 18 months, and that the aux belt DOES need changing? I doubt that has changed TBPFH.

Until the dealers are capable of dealing with the expectations of RS customers, I'll always be unhappy about going in. Sadly my next RS will have warranty, so I might not get a choice!

I kind of agree aboutthe dealers mate so sympathise with you there...I went in to mystery shop one and they didn't really have a clue about the RS range. The thing she was trying to sell it on was the alloy pedals!!! Not exactly the reason we buy RSs for now...!

I would like to see a specialist person in each dealer for RSs...that will be something I endorse when I get an opportunity to. Not necessarily a person who only sells RSs, but a salesperson who is trained a lot for RSs and takes care of all RS customers. Would people think that is a good idea?

Yes that's an awesome idea, but it would have to filter through to the service department. Otherwise it'll just feel like ok you bought the car, now f**k off. They really really REALLY need to have dealers who know the RS brand. Branded specialist centres that RS owners can trust. The massive lack of knowledge is costing sales. Trust me.

Yes that is a good idea, as most dealerships are clueless when it comes to the RS models.

Yeah sounds like a very good idea. but it makes you ask the question why have they not thought about that before. and if they have, why did it not take off?
Surely there are a percentage of car sales men and women who are passionate about cars. they would be easier to train up on more performance related vehicles. surely.
im sure it isnt a black and white as a suggestion and an easy solution, but if youve got the power to make the suggestion, id go for it!
i cant imagine the response you get to be "no. what a stupid idea"

Not sure - I will ask when I am back in to work tomorrow. I think there is work to do on the dealership front, no point having decent cars if they don't know anything about them or understand the different customer groups. A RS customer won't want to be treated the same as a 65 year old Scenic owner for example. Cheers!

this sounds like an excellent idiea iv had some amazingly funny things said to me in my local dealership, 'we have a lovely black gold 172 just arrived sir, 54 plate 32k miles 'fast car' a was like lmao and this is to name just 1! i dont even bother to go in now lol

RENAULT SPORT DEALERSHIPS FTW lol

RS specialist dealerships would be cool.

After looking at more pics of the 200 on renaultsport.co.uk, I've decided form the front at least, it looks like the 197's chubbier uglier brother.

  Mito Sportiva 135
I am not sure they would be able to set up a special RS dealership/s but would be good. I was thinking more just someone in each dealership would be trained in sales and aftersales so they would know what they are talking about. Speaking to someone today and this actually used to happen in sales, so not sure why this has stopped really.

i would go back to renault, but the service and the dealerships just really put me off. such piss poor service and the dealerships are so cheap inside.

much prefer bmw now, can actually get decent service, usually a fitty at the reception, nice coffee and a sandwich in some cases! Awesome imo.

Having used to work for BMW UK, I definitely think there are many things the French can learn from the Germans - was at an RRG dealer today and just makes me want to smack my head when we still have horrible giant decals in bubble writing stuck on thesides of cars, and little neon stars with prices hand written stuck onto aftermarket (and in most cases nasty) alloys. We make some decent cars now but there is no point until our dealers are up to par. Some are really quite good, but others bring the whole network into repute.

All very well and good, but you are paying for it with the extra £20 an hour or so labour charges.......

Also just to add, Brand is right about the Build. I've had my 197 for 16 months and tbf its taken a good beating (once warm). After owning x2 Mk2 RS Clios for the last near 5 years, the MK3 still feels super solid. Its not ratted its self to bits yet at 32k, only the other day i was cruising back from the gf's late at night with the radio off, no rattling roofliners or windows/dash. Win tbh

On thursday, I signed at my dealer for a black Clio RS 200. I'm very happy and hope I get this car in may.
The options are similar to the 197-version, but Xenons are not available for the new clio (just here in Switzerland maybe?). You pay here a bit more for the 200 than for a new 197 in the last years.

nice, they've made a 197 ugly and given it 3bhp?

Most sports are 10bhp down so this one will prob make 190bhp on average :)

The Mk3 Clio is by far the best in terms of build. Not saying it's German standard but it's pretty f**king good. Out of my 172, gf's Mk3 Clio and her current car (MINI Cooper) the Mk3 Clio was the most solid. Her MINI creaks as much as my 172.

TLC. A new mini would cost far less than a 197 to service over 3-5 years.
