Clio Sport 172 2.0 16V Insurance

  106 Quiksilver
I am 17 years old and i would like to buy a Renault Clio 172 when i am 18. The only problem is that the insurance company i am insured with will not let me insure a car with them unless it is insurance group 13 or below!!! This means i cannot insure a 172 with them until i am 21 :dapprove: . When i am 18 i will have 2 years no claims bonus as i transferred the no claims from my moped policy and then should have another years once i get to May. I was just wondering........does anyone know of an insurance company that will insure a 18 year old on his own policy on a 172 and if so round-a-bouts how much do you recon it will cost for me to get insured??

Pleas get back to me :D.

The only problem is that this company is great! And offer very cheap insurance but obviously i will not be able to insure a 172 with them! but if anyone else wants to see if they will provide a good quote for future refference the website is http://www.ecarinsurance.com/.

I had the same prob when I chabged from the 1.2 16v expression clio as More Than insurance wouldn't insure me in a car with a higher than group 15!

This is also after driving performance cars for about 7 years with no accidents, well not any they know about anyway!!

Arg why do people ask on here, insurers as best to ask!
Confused, go compare, tesco compare, only way to find a cheap quote is search.

At that age, if you can get a quote anywhere it's going to be a ridiculous amount of money.

Wait a couple of years - it just isn't worth it.

been asked loads of tis recently use the search, or go back a few pages.

your going to need a stupidly high excess and your still going to get shafted. well over 2k probs.

wow that insurer is expensive its quoting me atleast £400 than anywhere else did this year (these guys £1140- currenlty insured for under £700 with bell)

places like elephant will do it for about 3-4 grand...

but you will probably find these will all be ONE off payments...and u wont be able to pay in installments....so unless u have a lot of spare cash lying at hand..

forget it..

Not sure if you will all agree with me, but search engines are utter shite. I search for insurance on my Trophy and the cheapest was 3500 with kiwk fit. They claimed Admiral would not insure me, so I tried via there website, and got a quote for £1,527. Happy days!

So the moral of the stroy is don't use the moneysupermarket, gocompare etc. Just use there own sites mate.

The first post of this thread looks very much like a marketing ploy to me. It's his first post and hes posted some cheesy little thing at the bottom about what a great insurance co they are.

hello people thanks for your advise i am receiving quite a large lump sum on my 18th birthday but from what you are saying i wouldn't want to waste my money!! And secondly i am not marketing anything lol i was just letting people know that they are quite a good insurer just to be helpful! But anyways thanks for your advise if anyone else knows anything about this then please let me know! I really want one of these 172's coz they are very rapid! but frankly at those prices i cannot really afford to be throwing £3500 down the drain! And just to comfirm i am not marketing anything Mike Mardlin is the mechanic i use in portsmouth and i know that he is a member of this club so thought i would write on here because he said you are helpful! Thanks for your advise once again.:D

if you want something faster but dont want to pay stupid insurance then do what I did and get yourself a 1.6, it will feel like a massive step up
