CLIO SPORT 182 ENGINE PROBLEM

Hi guys this is my first ever post on the forum, I took my Clio sport 182 for a run and I booted it, then hit the rev limiter in 2nd before changing gear, then all of a sudden my engine stopped, showing service light and stop etc, and now it just cranks over but wont start. I just recently changed the crank sensor couple of days ago also, but I got a funny feeling the engine blown something :S, no leaks or big hole that I can see. The dephaser pulley has also been changed along with cam belt and pulleys and water pump, new plugs, leads, coil pack prior to this issue any suggestions would be appreciate thanks.

Pulley locking tool? you referring to the dephaser pulley? All I know he had the proper reno pins and he had the tool for the cams to be locked

When you turn it over does it sounds normal other than the not starting?
If its done the belt it will spin over quicker as zero compression, its very obviously different just to hear.

It just turns over but not firing thats all I know, couple of days ago, had trouble starting during the nice weather we been having especially in the morning lol, so I replaced the crank sensor cause I have read its common and it was the original one the cars 9 year old 04 plate done 81,000mls and its the cheapest option.

If it still sounds normal when cranking, it has not done the belt.

Compression test it if you really cant tell by listening though, will be zero if its bent valves.

It will normally be just a constant ZZZZZ, instead of the zzz,nng,zzz,nng

Lol @ you trying to do the sound effects, yep agree hard to describe in writing lol :p well hopefully my mate should be able to tell, when he has a look ;)

A quick listen should be all he needs TBH mate, it really is very obvious

If it is that then its new engine time or strip and rebuild but the risk with that is piston fractures from the impact, I only ever re-use bottom ends personally if the belt failed at idle.

Not sounding good then if its new engine :( that's the only vehicle I have :( it just died on me when it hit the rev limiter then the whole engine shut down and I had to pull over as soon as I could, it wasn't a a loud bang or anything chip it just ceased power service light came on and stop light on dash :( thanks anyways chip.

Sounds like another prime example of why it pays to get the belts changed at a specialist, not by a mate!

Update guys Phew its not the engine..........it was the crank senor my mate waggled the sensor connector and the engine started, glad its wasn't the engine, thanks for the help and advice guys :D

Lol Matt the mate used work at reno, and he skanked the proper locking tools before he left ;) now he works for another dealership lol

Sounds like another prime example of why it pays to get the belts changed at a specialist, not by a mate!

Or even another example of people jumping to conclusions about the abilities of people's mates....?

Hey up Dan, yep maybe but when I had the dephaser pulley done he did lock the cams and said that the locking tool on the crank only locked in one place @ TDC....but saying that I had the head done at dealers when it was 45,000mls and it just ran out of warranty.... cut the long story short... they wanted a bill of over 3 grand lol so I kicked off to customer services and waived 2 grand still had to pay a grand. When my mate did the dephaser pulley he told me that the timing was 180 degrees out??? lol but it ran better then but had a noisy diesel like dephaser pulley, hence got it replaced.

Was going to say crank sensor. Friend was giving his 172 cup death down the dual carriage way then the car suddenly cut out. Thrust bearing had shattered and took out the sensor.
