LOL York vs Pod again. Theyre both a hell of a distance for me so Im not biased. I dont think you can really say whats what about them unless youve been to both at least once every year. But one thing I will say is complaining that York is too far when youre happy to go to York because its local...thats a pretty lame excuse LOL. Neither are local to me, nor have they ever been, and I still try to visit York when I can cos its a better friendlier scene even if it does smell of pig sh*t!
Pod is better for definitive times. Im not saying that I dont believe York times, because Ive run at York loads, and their equipment is just as accurate. But rightly or wrongly, people dont argue with Pod times and in quarter miling, thats what you want. Its just something that has to be accepted.
York is better for road cars on road tyres, fwd especially, because of the road launch surface that you can use if you want to, and most people do. Worth up to 0.2 of a second on the 60ft which is what I reckoned it to be just from experience, and then a little while later I got a York newsletter come through to me, and it actually said that the York organisers reckon the same thing.
So the bottom line is, every quarter miler whos not playing around, takes and uses every advantage they can to run the ET they want. If they run at York because they know that on road tyres there they get a better launch, then why not? If they run at Pod because its nearer, or because its more official then, again, why not? Times are times.
mailto:13.8@110">13.8@110 is very good. 13.8 neither here nor there really, you cant be sure about a dry ET from that, but that terminal speed is a humdinger. Congratulations Matt!
Lastly mailto:LOL@theJesus">LOL @ theJesus, "wonder what Nicks planning to beat it now"...I dont need to beat it, mine is STILL the fastest Clio and thats not changed! But obviously the time Matts put in is hefty, and I would be surprised if he couldnt hit a high 12 at 115 in the dry, which of course would beat me. Assuming I dont swap in a set of green Cossie injectors, a 2.5 bar MAP sensor and remap it for 300bhp...its just a question of time.
