Clio Zetec Turbo Project Halted

after trying the engine in my mates clio 16v today ive decided that the project isnt going any further, going to be too awkward and difficult to get the zetec engine to fit in the clio engine bay :moaning:

looks like im gonna have to sort myself out a nice series 2 rs turbo to strap it into :top:

the width wsnt a problem its the depth of the ford gearbox, it is just too close to the power steering rack to allow me to move the engine back the necessary 100mm to allow everything to line up and fit :wall:

NO!!!

what is it with crazy white valvers at the moment?

Oh, run an adaptor plate so you can run the valver gearbox, or at least look into it. Too close to stop now.

your talking serious time and money for that kinda thing, to much for my liking and ability at the moment i think.

Cut the power steering out. Guessing that cant be done though, guess youd need popeyes strength to go round corners  :(

you cant just cut the steering rack out tho cos the wheels wont turn at all then, no matter how strong you are (unles youre Uri Geller)

The 2lts zetec engine is a massive powerplant when properly turboed. Do it mate!!! Im also into Fords and got to say they are great!

You can try to get the valver gearbox into it but I would really doubt it could handle the torque. Also, youd need a ATB diff from quaife to get the power down where it belongs: on the road.

There are some gearbox workshops that know what it needs to be done to strenght a gearbox that was designed to be used on a fairly small torque engine. try http://www.gearboxman.co.ukwww.gearboxman.co.uk

You made some Ford owners look seally with this project! Well done!!!
Good luck mate and keep us updated!!!

That looks like a wicked project youve got going there, its a shame it couldnt go in the clio, but the RS 1600s are mint!

well yours will be when youve finished with the angle grinder and gotten rid of all that bloody rust

Ill definitely be keeping an eye on that thread though :D
