Clio16v - Skimming a head

All,

Ive taken my head off, as I had a cam belt snap.

The head is pitted in the left back corner by the exhaust pulley (as you look over the engine bay). Ive measured it to be about 25 thou in the worst case.

How much can you skim off a head before the valves start to hit or the compression ratio get too high?

Regards,

Rossa

slight pitting is ok and expected, what is more important is that the heads face is level and flat. Get a decent straight edge (engineers ruler or something like that) and check it in both directions. If in doubt get it skimmed, but mine looked ok and so I never skimmed it and it appears fine
