Clonking sound

I've found a few pages with similar symptoms, but different causes so thought I'd start a new post to see if anyone's experienced my issue:

I've recently fitted new Cup shocks, Eibach Proline springs and PureMotorsport solid top mounts, as well as new lower wishbones and a poly bush dogbone mount. The setup is awesome, the car was great at Snetterton last month.

But I've noticed that whilst parking, at low speed and with full lock, there's an occasional clonk sound. It'll only do it once each time, but it feels like something is building up with tension and then jolts. Aside from the noise the car feels fine.

Anyone have any ideas where I should start looking before I stick my head under the bonnet?!

Help is appreciated!

Top mounts maybe, or rack bushes?

I get a noise but its more of a very loud snap, like thick plastic breaking up :S

Grease up the top mounts and see how ya get on buddy my pal had the same issue and he greased them up and it stopped the knocking

Thanks for the help, so the solid mounts will need greasing every so often I guess?

Dissapointed as that's not something I expected I'd have to do when I bought these to cure my knocking original mounts!

Just thought I'd update the thread for anyone else's benefit.

Thanks for the help guys, it was a case of greasing up the top mount bearings and even tightening the 3 bolts on the top! Even though we had tightened them to the recommended torque, after settling down and then facing the abuse of Snetterton they had become ever so slightly loose - so little that it was less than a quarter of a turn until they were totally tight.

Guess I'll be checking the bolts every so often, it's now silent on full lock :)
