Compatible HU for cd changer & steering

  Clio RS 172 Ph2

Hi, can anyone tell me (before I go extracting the h/u) if the standard Renault headunit in the Mk1 Clio V6 (also in other Clios, Meganes etc) has a pre-out on it?

If not (and Im assuming so) what do you guys recommend for fitting a new headunit, which can be connected to the standard Renault CD changer & steering wheel controls?

Also do any connect to the radio display also?

I NEED to fit my Pioneer Active Sub, as the std system is too crappy to sound any good over the hum of the engine!

Cheers,

Dave

you wont find a cd player mate that will work with the OE changer, sorry

steering wheel controls is a lot easier though, most units over £150 will take the wirin adapters needed for the controls to work

for the extra display, as far as i know only 1 or 2 units exist at the moment to connect back up with that, i know 1 is an Alpine, i think Pioneer have brought one out recently too....

IIRC they are £300+

Cheers for your help - I was really looking to upgrade the HU just so I could plumb in my active sub, but whilst digging around in the garage this morning, I chanced across a couple of convertors which change speaker level output down to line level, which *should* let me feed into the sub.

2nd question - any idea what size the rear speakers are on the Vee, the fronts are OK (just about) but the rears are awful. Are they difficult to get to to swap over?

I heard they may be 13cm, and I was thinking of putting in some nice Alpine or Pioneer components in their place, and running the signal feed to the sub from them at the same time...
