Complete new ice install...help/input needed

Okay so as title says im going to completly fit the car out, this is going to be a good quality system and not just a s**t box with 6x9's.:nono:

Im going to replace the head unit, front and back speakers and got a sub for the boot.

I plan on putting the sub to runt he components and coaxials under the passanger seat so it is not to far from the head unit and then the sub in the boot.

Im faily sure on the parts just need to make sure they will run okay together. Also what kind of wiring kit will i need, as to link it all up.?

Is there anything else you think i need/have missed out?
Do i need to sound deaded the door pannels?
Do you know anywhere where i can get these parts cheaper? as my pockets arnt too deep and i have other stuff i want to do to the car as well.
Are the stock speaker slots 13cm front and back?
Any just anything else u want to chip in?

The parts i am looking at getting to do this are as follows:

Soundproofing makes a world of difference.

If you want a quality sound. Start with a headunit that isnt an alpine. Id also go for Rainbow speakers at that price, rather than infinitys.

Best thing to do would be to sign up a TalkAudio forums.

you can get some decent 2nd hand stuff on here and other forums matey, people always nocking subs etc up for sale pretty good prices too

What's wrong with Alpine.

Actually, theres nothing wrong with alpine. I just dont like the way they sound. I should have stated that earlier. You can fiddle with the EQ all day and an Alpine will still sound harsh. I just dont like the tone.

Again, down to personal preference but i just think Rainbow make incredible good quality, awesome sounding speakers. It also depends on what you listen to.

If you really want to know what the best you can get for your money is, check out Talk Audio. Once you have 50 posts youll also be able to post in the for sale and wanteds.

Everything.

To be fair I don't listen to things loud. I got a cheap and cheerful sub and didn't bother fitting the tweeters that came with the comps.

General driving I use volume 5 or 6. Obviously set it up with volume in 20+ and it was fine, treble was a bit squeaky but that's to be expected from the standard domes.

what would you suggest over alpine for the price then? it is down to personal preference, but I think alpine make great headunits, very reliable and well built too.

I personally like the sound of JVC HUs. But Alpine are prob the best iPod compatible ones.

Although why spend a fortune on a quality ICE install then play low quality MP3 audio?

Ok mate, im a huge ICE fan and would be more then happy to chip in a few words. Firstly stop worrying so much bout the head unit, if you wanna have a kicking setup then the tuning to be done from the head unit is gonna be minimal. The alpine unit you got will be more then ok, you got a 50w output from it (which is well sufficient to play a split system off of) and alpine is known to be ace when it comes to i-pod compatibilty. As for the split system, if you want a kicking install drop the reference range and try for the Kappa rang (top notch), Rainbows are also high on the list but if those arent in your interest then settle for a pair of JBL GTO 6" splits, they got a 70W RMS out put and a 2ohm impedance level, perfect for a SQ setup (sound quality) but also do great for SPL, depends how you set them. Im currently running the JBL's and i cant complain;) As for the wiring, you can settle for a 4 guage. Now i see you got one amp, you planning on running that whole setup of one amp? Cause if your pockets can allow, i would suggest getting a small mid market amp just to run your sub off of, youll get a better output, and then run your splits and mids off the Blaupunkt. If you cant go that route then run your splits of the radio (power will be more then sufficient) and run the sub and two ways of the amp. Either way i wouldnt reccomend running the whole setup of one amp.

Hope this helps mate.
peace

its differnt but its no harder than a full on SPL build, belive me SPL installs make ALOT of hard work

yeah ok i can give you that, but with SPL the main factor is getting ur bass pumping to the highest db's without distortion. However with SQ you got db's, clarity, frequencies, pitch and the main factor that you gotta hear your bass from coming infront of you, not from behind. So i give it up to SPL installers, but i still gotaa say most demanding set up is SQ. No hates towards SPL tho, not at all. Im an ICE fan and i appreciate all set ups:cool:

hense why us SPL ers call u lot SQ fairys lol

i write this sat here wearing a Team UK SPL dbdrag euro finals jumper...

SPL all the way :D
there are some awesome SQ installs about .. they are just not my thing lol

HAHAHAHA f**k ok:)
Question is did you earn that jumper or inherit it??
I had a SPL install when i was living in South Africa, so i can appreciate, but now im looking for something more challenging:D

but no worries, its all good;)

cheers polishdon im planning to run the components and coaxels of a 4 channel amp under passanger seat and then get a vibe sub with buit in amp. As running of the headunit would be a waste!

Would you be able to find or show me in the direction of a good wiring kit to sort all htis out as i have no clue how much i will need to set up 4 speakers an amp and subwith inbuilt amp.

Also sound deadning how should i go about this as i have no clue as how to do this prolpy...any advice would be great?

Cheers
