Corsa 2.0 or 172FF

What you guys think would happen if i raced my cousins 2.0 litre 16v converted corsa ?

He has a C20XE conversion, Courtenay enlarged throttle body, Courtenay powercap, Green induction kit, full 2" s/s de-catted exhaust system

He keeeps saying he'll "slay the wee frenchy" ;)

I don't think so but what you's boys and girls think ?

I have a 172ff with De-catted stainless exhaust system and uprated airfeed to standard airbox with k &n filter plus no acoustic valve.

I was thinking f**k ya i'll show ya, but da want to lose to a corsa :(

2.0 corsas are pretty quick, though not sure he'd have you.. what power is he running..

ps.. i flashed my lights at you earlier!

I noticed at last minute loon. ;)

Oops

Have you uprated your bulbs at all ?

As the looked bright :)

Hows Vxr ?

  Mk4 .:R32
Old corsas only weigh about 950kgs, so with the extra engine weight prob only weigh a ton. With the other mods he's prob pushing a higher bhp/ton than you. Only way to know is to have a race (on a private road obviously)

It was a 1.4 sport before

  Clio 197
Well just take him to a road with bends then see who wins, its not about straight line speed in the clio so i wouldnt even bother.

bought them off ebay.. i'll find the seller and pm you if you like.. though pretty similar to xenons i think

  FIAT PANDA 100HP!!!!
i'd say corsa, but depends on the set up and stuff, not much good having loads of power if you cant get it to the road.

  ITB'd 182...
could be interesting but the c20xe will be a tired engine now. depends on weatha it has bin rebuilt and is a good engine and if the person in question can drive.
i could beat a astra gsi in my old suzuki swift gti and i once raced a 182 and it made me look silly so i think personally you should have the edge my friend ;)

if the corsas standard the 172 will be quicker, mine is quicker than a 2.0 converted gsi about here, pretty equal in 2nd and 3rd but 172 pulls in 4th and 5th

  Megane Trophy
As ive owned both theres very little difference in them!

The C20XE is one of the best engines out there and they produce a good torque figure.

since i got my 172 ive played with a few which are cars that i converted anyway.

Top end from 70-120 there is nothing in it

0-60 the clio is a little faster,

get to some twisties and the clio will just leave the corsa for dead.

Even with £600 suspension on my corsa it never handled that well and the clio in standard trim is much better.

Corsa should win handily as it's modded. Laura's new 172 FF is MILES slower than her phase 1. On the official bridge test her 172 FF got 105mph, as did her 106 Rallye. The ph1 got 111mph... my mates valver gets 105mph as well interestingly and it's totally 100% standard as is the 172... it could just be a slow one, but most I've encountered seem slower than the rest of the range... but then dont they also weigh over 1100kg's?

It hasn't been rebuilt ?

  fabia vrs
I done a 2.0 corsa inmy 1.8 escort gti with a tonj of body kit on and only ruing 150 (esh) BHP !!!!!!!!!!!!!
All down to the driver at the end of the day i have had a lot bigger car's in my 1.2 !!!! always doing my mate's 1.6 astra's/escort's !!!

the corsa would destroy the 172 in a straight line.

Why would that be i don't know if his enlarged throttle body, powercap decat exhaust and green filter would push him near the 170bhp bracket would it ?

Thats a 20bhp gain ? :S :S

  Tweaked Leon Cupra R
easier to get bhp out the xe than the 1*2 block tho.. better torque too i'd think..

  Ultra Red Megane 225
My mate has an XE power corsa. Has green cotton air filter and full magnex system inc manifold. My standard 172 cup will just about have the edge up to about 110 mph, but those XE lumps pull really really well on the motorway whether its in a corsa, nova, or anything else of similar size. I personally prefer to sit back and relax knowing that mine is designed to cope with the power though......

  Clio 197 (in black)
That Corsa is a chav-mobile anyhow. Might be quick on straights but like most Vauxhalls, show it some bends and it'll be left trailing in your exhaust fumes. Besides, what car would you rather be cruising in, a chavved-up Corsa or your Clio?
