Creaky Clutch Pedel 172cup

  RenaultSport clio 172 CUP
I've had my CUP about four months now and I love it to bit but I have one problem apart from the odd rattle.

When I sit in traffic for any length of time the clutch penel becomes a bit still and creaks.

Is the problem the clutch, cable or pedel.

Help would be much appreciated as its starting to P*SS me off.

i had this on my 182 from new, everyone kept telling me i was imagining it but i knew i wasn't, took it into renault and surprisingly they found it first time ( well after taking it a few times and them saying there was nothing wrong with it too;) )

It was the diaphram i think where the clutch plates rub together or something, they weren't alighned and I think i got a new diaphram or a new clutch or something but it was definitely something wrong with the diaphram.

hope that helps.

The diaphram is the spring which holds the plates together. Shame I've left mine so long, as I'm sure renault will say that its wear and tear.

Plenty of grease on the spring and on the cable. I did this on my corsa and it worked a treat:)

I think it's something to do with the rachet mechanism....Do so they said 25£ to fix.

A lot of people seem to be having the same problem.

Surely To many to be problems with the clutch its self.

Must be a manufacturing fault with the cable or pedel.

Im hoping thats the case anyway as this will be cheap to sort out.

A new clutch must be £££££££££

For such a common problem its seems stange that no one has a definite solution to it.

WHEN ANYONE FINDS OUT PLEASE PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

Now that the temperature has dropped the clutch feels smoother & lighter:) .

Anyone else noticed this?

Would this indicated that it is a problem with the cable and not the clutch.

I have noticed this cupcrazy like I said in your other post I had my clutch replaced not that long ago and was smooth all the time but within a few months it started doing this I would say for this reason it cant be the clutch!
My guess is that something, maybe the cable is expanding with the heat and making it not track properly along its route can any confirm whether this could happen or not?

That sound feasible to me,if it was the clutch surly the weather would make no difference.

Service due in a few months, I will ask my local Stealer as im sure it must be a common problem they come accross.

Mike@Rentech's going to sort my creaky clutch out next week.

I have tried everything on mine, greased up spring, and squirted lots of GT-85 but it still creaks and squeaks, i think you need to change the clutch cable.

The only thing that doesnt make sense to me is that surely we would just be swapping a cable for a cable so why would it be any different?
What has actually happened to the original cable to make it perform this way?

i messed round with my selector fork (bit the cable attaches to on the gear box) as its kind of a floating item (not attached as such.. touch wood its smooth and creak free.

renault did change the design on the clutch cable, but you can only get this cable if you buy it from the dealers, its not a warranty item
