Cup+Mot= Headache

  RenaultSport 172 cup
Alright Guys, need some advice from you. The cup just failed it's Mot for the brake load sensing valve linkage being seized and both rear brakes recording little or no effort.

The cups don't have a linkage i'm sure so how can it be seized?
And would that account for the poor rear braking?

This is the second Mot that it failed, the first one was just for low tread on the rear tyres, which I've replaced, so i've got 2 mot's from 2 seperate garages now.

If I go to the first garage and show him a new set of rears he'll give me the mot but will VOSA know that the car failed on other things at another garage and force me to change them?

Cheers Mikey

Tell him it came like this from the manufacturer. If the mot station rings vosa, they produced a newsletter for them detailing the brake valve on cups.

As it came from factory without one, it doesnt need one to pass. I made the station phone vosa while i was there to verify that the car should pass, and didnt need to pay for a retest.

Spot on Lads. Just found the article, wish I had a bloody printer! Ha Ha. I did do a search but there was nothing about it being seized or anything. Just been out to spray wd40 on it, no point really cause it's not attached to anything. Anyone know the crack about my second question, about having 2 failed Mot reports?

You might have to pay for a retest mate, as you removed the car from the testing station for the tyres. They'll probably charge you half the test fee if you do.

Yeah I'm aware of that, retest is only £15. It's just that I've got one fail for the tyres from one garage (which are changed) and another for the brakes and stuff from the other garage, I'm obviously gonna go for the cheapest option which is the first garage. Will the second fail from the other garage show up on their computer?
