Cup on 172 Wheels

  Saab 93 Aero Wagon
Well a couple of the Turini's have been away to Spit And Polish for a refurb so the Cup has been on my recently acquired winter wheels.
Im surprised how much ive missed the turinis to be honest...the car looks narrower with standard 172 rim on, but then again i should have expected that as the turinis are what make the Cup track wider.

Nest stop, Eib Pro's and then the brake upgrade.
Anyone know where i can get a money tree?

Doesn't look right does it?

I keep catching myself looking at it and thinking, god im glad i don't have a 172 FF.;)

Joking aside, i can see why so many people go the Turini route...everyone who has seen my car this week on those wheels have asked why the hell ive changed them!
Normal service resumed next week.

  Golf GTI PP Mk7
i had white 172 wheels on mine when mine were being refurbed, it does looks slightly odd, good for the winter tho.

Yeah but no 1.2 has a colour that gooood....hehe.

They are gonna be on the car from November to March from now on so i suppose i'll have to get used to them!

Why bother with winter wheels? They look shite, and does the salt, grit and rain really make that much difference to the condition of a set of turinis?

Its not like we've got chromes on.

thats what i think peperami f**k having the car looking gash for a few months keep them clean and itll be reet

  Saab 93 Aero Wagon
Well thats up to you guys but im quite happy taking them off for a few months thank you very much.

If you take the front bumper and bonnet off, and replace them with 1.2 ones, when you come to sell it, they will be immaculate.

Hold on people. Are you lot gettin narked at the fact that i am considering having a set of wheels for the winter?
I think the sarky comment about replacing the bumper and bonnet is rather amusing...i appreciate that sense of humour.

One thing is for sure though, i'd much rather preserve my (now immaculate) Turinis during the months of crap weather, regardless of whether or not anyone else considers it pointless.
Thank you please.

not pointless at all Ollie - a good plan - especially with the majority of OEM Turini paint finishes being very seceptible to paint damage and bubbling on the examples of Cup's I've seen

you care about your car, that's a good thing :approve:

Why thank you mate, very nice of you to say so. It was never my intention to have a set of wheels for winter but ive come round to the idea.
I have a friend who is heavilly into the Vee Dub scene and he says alot of people with GTi's etc have a winter set.

In the process of taking the wheels off (the Cup wheels) i did actually notice the paint beginning to bubble and flake in places on one wheel so that will prove they are seceptible to the elements.

I know??? What's ya point?

You said 'If you take the front bumper and bonnet off'...

Pointless as the bonnet on the 1.2 and the RS models are the same..

Yes I know that...... oh dear lol.

I was just pointing out that a car is a car, it's meant to be used, its a tool, and if your going to swap parts around so they don't get wet, dirty etc, you may aswell swap everything around.

Maybe I just don't get it? Like people who buy cars and don't drive them in the wet?!??! Proper fruitcakes ha.

Well its not gonna be staying like that for long. The turinis are back from refurb and the new springs should arrive this week so it'll be back to normal with some improvements by the weekend hopefully!
