Cup Racer Airbox Over Standard Airbox

  PH1 172 Sport
I have got an itg filter and better free flowing air pipes that I have done from the guides section of the forum.

Can I assume it would be a waste of money purchasing a Cup racer airbox to replace the 2 tubes with 1 larger one.

I would expect performance increases to be next to nothing but would the induction noise change at all?

i was thinking about this, you would be replacing 2*70mm? holes with one 100mm one, 2*70 = 140mm vs 100mm. not sure which would be best tho?

I went for the race car air box on my 182

Not completely right D4ve.

70mm inlet is 3848mm²
100mm inlet is 7853mm²

The 100mm is about 200mm² bigger then the two 70mm.

Anyway where could I buy such a airbox! Seems very good to me. Maybe a partnumber?

that some crazy maths that i have no idea about !!

ill get the part number off it for everyone tomorrow (maybe)

The one 100mm inlet definately seems to offer a slight increase in air flow is the box any bigger then standard?

Would love to know if this is worth doing over a standard PH1 172 box.

i dont think the box is any bigger, the box is used on the <1997 renault espace v6 and the filters are the same size as the ph1 172. iv got the ph1 172 itg filter in that espace air box.

Cool. I cant see improvements over the standard PH1 172 box being worth the hassle of buying and changing the box. Unless anybody thinks otherwise??

I got one of these airbox's for £10 the other day fitted it! over the ph2 airbox miles better. It's not 4seconds to 60 or anything but it does pull far better and very noticabe on top end. The issue now is feeding 100mm air feed to it as its very tight. just to note people air ducting from wicks diy is £4 per meter for 100mm and should do the job just fine. I think that might be better than a maxegon kit. I'm planning on the air feed comming to the front grill near the foglight but i'm gonna spray the ducting black so you cant see it ;-)

I just did a short airfeed like the maxogen and i agree its much better on a ph2 that the standard one!
