Funny, EVO mag have timed the 182cup and the 172 cup as:

182 cup 0-60: 6.6, 0-100 17.5 max 139
172 cup 0-60: 6.5, 0-100 17.7 max 138

that tells me theres nowt in it. they could of course by lying and the 172cup would beat them all easy! :S

lol was joking anyway matey, i love all of them no matter which is faster.. i just like the car for what it is and the performance of them all. not really a competition is it who has the faster car etc..

I went for the 172 FF over the cup because I loved the Monaco blue colour, which I have. For me I didn't think the minor differences in speed\handling outweighed the fact I got Aircon and lovely seats. The cup just looked cheaper.

Both amazing cars anyway, you would love either

Didn't they say you couldn't go faster for under £20,000 at one point?

Yer that's right.

Either car is good, it just depends what you want. I think this is why Renault did the 182 with Cup packs, to kind of give the best of both worlds.

To me a Standard Cup stands out far more than a Standard 172, due to the colour, alloys, slightly wider track, and spoiler.

You are gonna love either car which ever way you go!

The air con in my mums scenic is crap compared to my Dad's A3. Thats why I didn't pay £800 for the CC in the Cup.

Although I've never been in a 172/182 FF to comment. It's was crap in the Scenic so I just went by that when it came to ticking the list of options.

Don't think much of the Auto lights or wipers either in other clio's i've been in.

I think the average Joe wouldn't notice any difference as regards performance.

I went for the Cup becasue it is a slightly more focused track day car.

Scenario A:
Stig drives a Cup & and a Sport around a track - the cup will obviously be quicker...

Scenario B:
13 stone driver in a Cup vs 9 stone driver in a Sport racing from a standing start, the Sport driver would be quicker...

So much emphasis was put on saving weight in the Cup that a few extra KG's completely negates the power to weight advantage.

Neither car is 'better' than the other.

All Cliosports are very competent & practical Hothatches that probably don't get the respect that they deserve in performance terms; most people opting for CTR's etc.

I personally think that the Cup & Trophy are seriously underated track day cars given their cost/running costs and practicality especially when compared to 'better' cars ALA Lotus Elise/Westfields etc...

Don't you mean if the 172 Cup had a 23 stone driver and the 172 Full Fat had a 9 stone driver then the P/W/R would be the same... LOVE it!

89 KG = 14 stone!!!
