I'll be removing my air con and associated pipes and pumps next weekend.

going for WRX's guide with the bigger pulley.

Got it on an amazon deal for £16 for the belt and pulley rather than £15 for the belt and £25-£30 for the pulley.

Should free up some more weight. It's never worked anyway!

Excellent thread, will be good to see some updates about the 225 engine conversion. All engine mounts are the same buddy, check my build thread... boosted clios FTW!

Thanks mate you've just given me some bed time reading

No worries buddy, its not the best thread (excuse the tiger sprayed under the bonnet, its long gone now haha), but it shows how easy it is to mount, I did use the 172 block, but it doesn't make a difference engine mount wise.

For mounting the jc5 box to the 225 block, I think some holes on the block line up but others need to be drilled and tapped, but IIRC you can put 172 sump onto the 225 block which has the correct mounting holes.

Will be keeping a close eye on this thread (Y)

Thanks for that mate I appreciate it! Will update the thread as soon as it all happens of course. Got a wales road trip with a few of my homeys before that though in a few weeks!

Next weekend i'll be doing the air con delete and maybe painting the interior a primer grey colour.

Does anyone know if I follow this will it remove all the associated parts for the air con? I want it all gone and not sure what parts are actually on the clio? I'm guessing compressor, radiator, associated pipework? @Mash.

http://www.pure-motorsport.co.uk/Fi...te kit instructions with standard pulleys.pdf

i'll be using the saab pulley and belt which i mentioned above (WRC method)

I mean following those steps wont remove all of it - just dont follow a guide you've got a head use it ;)

Compressor, condensor, ac rad and pipework aswell as part of the heaterbox under the scuttle you wont need but will need to block the hole you make removing the part... haha

Block the hole under under the scuttle? that should be easy enough.

This will be the first time i've done this so I guess it's just a case of tracing it all to where it leads (the 4 parts you mentioned)

Yeah its straight forward mate, for the scuttle panel thing you either block half of the heater thing or buy a cup heater for £20 which obviously doesnt have Ac part :)

Thanks Mash!

Tonight I made a list of the things I want to do this/ next year.

Figured i'd write them down before I forget. Once I get an idea in my head I have to do it - so it's all definitely happening :)

Just caught up with this Dan...bloody hell, loving the plans!

Megane lump will be amazing, and I'm sure you'll make it work spot on

Notice much of a difference when you stripped everything out? Besides increased noise I bet lol

Haha s**t going down mate!

Thanks though man. Yeah I noticed it picking up much better after stripping and it can only get better. It's a bit noisier but the exhaust is still fairly quiet inside which is sweet.

Makes me tempted to fully strip mine, but I don't know if I could put up with it, you've got to be fairly committed to the cause haha

Just doing 40 miles each day, and often do a 160 mile round trip to Bath each Friday - I don't think I could hack it, my exhaust drones enough on the motorway lol

Guessing you've lost your speakers? Or you kept the fronts?

Well, what a f**king awesome weekend. I went to my parents house Friday and had a bbq with abi. Whilst that was cooking I washed Boris. He's been at home for a few weeks and abs caught my first reaction on camera haha

FB_IMG_1469222374834_zpsoivqxlfs.jpg

All washed

20160722_212828_zpse1sg30ny.jpg

I then took him for his mot. He passed with one advisory :D

20160723_101255_zpsrktkbahf.jpg

Then onto the tar removal. Abi cracked on with that!

Then I made a start on tidying the rear loom. Thanks to @ nbr for that I've forgotten his user name!

Trialled the paint too. Let dry overnight and I'm really happy with it.

K'in ell Dan, that's some real commitment to strip it all back. Personally I would'nt do the interior a light colour as it may mark too easily and be a pain to keep clean. We need to see this at the next Yorkshire outing.

He can just keep a spare tin of paint and a roller handy!

Big changes have happened here Dan! Great commitment to whats becoming a seriously focused track car.
Can't wait to see how the paint turns out as I want to do something similar to mine.

Thank you very much for the replies guys.

I did some more bits to it yesterday, that included tidying the loom some more and removing the glue left over from the tar. Really easily done and not as bad as people make out on here - Simply rubbed it with automotive tar remover in a car. £3.30 for a small tin and used half of it.

Wrapped some of the wires up that were loose such as this:

I moved the earth cable for the rear lights as it trails down really low and looks ugly. Went from here...

To nut and bolted behind here. @Ben NBR Cup that is how i've done it, saves it trailing down!

Nice and simple your wiring solution. I bought some cable tidy that I ran down the sides of the car and cable tied that to the chassis to hide my wires and that. Didn't think to hide it like you have.
That is a nice colour you are going for, little lighter than what I have. What are you going to do with the inner wings where the rear "door cards" went? They going to be painted the same colour?

I'm 99% sure I remember talking to Dan and he was making his own door cards up.

Or was that @JP83

Thanks mate, it didn't take too long to do either! Cheers for your pm regarding paint and all that, appreciate it.

I will be painting it the same colour after removing the tar.

This thing was the biggest prick ever to remove! It just wouldn't budge and it was starting to get dark. I'll admit I lost my patience which I don't normally do. Ended up snapping a bit of plastic.

Going to be looking at race heaters now. Will be removing all the associated parts that go with it too.

This is getting pretty serious in the space of 2 weeks.

The bad thing is i'm going away to Wales for a road trip with the boyzzzzzzzzz and it's going to be like this... woooops!

What did you do regarding removing the carbon cannister bud? Guide?

There is just one bolt holding it on, think it's 13mm which points towards the sky. Then there are three connections on the top they are:

- Plug connector with two pins
- Pipe going to fuel tank
- Pipe going to the inlet manifold (the plug at the back of the inlet and it's on a squeezy clip, it's also a solid pipe and not flexy to help you locate it)

I disconnected the plug (some say you need a resistor but mines been fine, no lights on the dash for it yet after a month). For the pipe going to the fuel tank I siliconed a screw in there just where it was disconnected at the CC.

Finally, for the inlet side I looped a pipe from the inlet manifold to where the acoustic valve goes also on the inlet manifold so basically it is feeding into itself if that makes sense? Will upload a pic in a sec.

I did cut the acoustic valve pip down when I removed my acoustic valve so have no more pipe left. I might have some washer pipe from when I changed to blanks though, which looks to be the same.

I may look into this then as I want to run a cold air feed but unsure if it'll fit past the carbon cannister. Plus I have some red magnacor leads and new maf sensor else to fit, which I planned to do when I painted my inlets dark grey.

Need to investigate as I have a knocking noise under acceleration which i think is the gearbox mount so might tackle it then.

Thanks dude.

Absolutely dire update but hopefully it will be better by the end of the week.

Finally got a belt on that actually fits @Mash. I followed the WRC air con delete guide on here however the belt was wayyyyyyyyy too long - tried a few more and couldn't get it perfect.

Managed to get a 6PK1625 on there and its tensioned well, the car drives! however it's squealing on full lock so think I might need an even smaller one maybe 1623.

Tonight I removed more tar from the hidden parts of the car (side panels at rear) and under the skuttle panel. Probably another 1.5kg or so. I have then cleaned it up and masked off a few things ready for paint this week.

I feel like it's not going to be as quick as I imaged regarding the painting as there's a lot to do!

I am leaving on Saturday for the clio road trip with @RyG @optical @fairm010 @jaswalker24 @MarcR™ @Alistair14 so want it looking fairly presentable.

I've ordered one of these too to keep me cool. can't wait to fully strip the dash. Stealing @Ben NBR Cup 's idea with running solely just the top dash too!
