DCI 65 insurance, unexpectedly expensive?

  CBR1000RR Fireblade
good afternoon.

me and the mrs have put a deposit down a nice little run about 1.5 DCI dynamique 65. yes, we have far too many cars but we are thinking of getting rid of some for a change.

my mrs will be using the DCI for work mainly and ill be driving it on the odd occasion. now we have had a random insurance issue which has baffled me, hence this thread.

basically, the VTR is insured for business usage so we rang up to swap the policy over and the insurance company want an extortionate amount to insure the DCI?

i dont understand why?

the VTR is a group 7 insurance and the DCI 65 is a group 4 (nothing has changed on the policy other than the car) so why has the insurance gone up £30 a month?

we asked, it was because it is an insurance group 5? (although i thought it was a 4 anyway?)

we are paying £65 a month atm for the VTR and to change it over to the DCI its gone up to £90 a month?

we looked at alternative insurance policies and they are coming out at about £620 a year FC with buisness milage, which is quite cheap IMO and reasonable.

the only catch to this is my mrs has 4 months left on her existing policy and she would like to carry the policy on to get the past years NCB. obviously, if we change the policy to another company, she will lose the NCB

i didnt know clios were silly to insure though?

Have you seen how much another years NCB will "save" you next year ?

In 8 months time you'll be in the same situation, it'll be here in no time .. it might be a no brainer. It might be a stupid idea. Only one way to find out :)

£3k for insurance on a Golf ? I presume that it had a jet engine and Uzis ?

:dead:

  CBR1000RR Fireblade
the golf was £550 a year FC when i had it, however, its for my Mrs so the policy is obviously for her and she is younger than me with only 2 years NCB.

the golf doesnt really matter because we sold 12 months ago. i sold it to a mate who would probably sell it back to me but i dont want it back tbh.

the cheapest quote she has had so far was with diamond insurance (specialise in women's insurance iirc?)

so...

back to the original question.

does anyone know why the DCI 65 is more expensive to insure than a MK1 VTR?

i r confuzd.

Don't you have a work van and use the 182 as a weekend fun car? Or is this mainly for Amy?

Can't see why you need a Derv runaround, a 182 and a VTR are fairly economical.

when you do over 1000 miles a month the more economical the vehicle is the better. i use the transit for work and my daily, the 182 is my toy, the VTR is amys daily but will be soon parked up and either turbo'd or sold and replaced with an old ford and the DCI will be amys daily.
